Ray Stevenson, 58, has passed away. He was an actor who participated in popular TV shows like Rome, Vikings, and Dexter. In addition to his performances in the Thor movies and the Divergent series, he was also well-known for his appearances in Band of Gold, Peak Practice, and Murphy’s Law in the United Kingdom.
Viewpoint, his public relations firm in the United States, reported his de@th to the media but did not disclose any other information.
Ray Stevenson, 58, Actor In Star Wars Has Passed Away
Actor Ray Stevenson, known for his roles as the evil British governor in “RRR,” an Asgardian warrior in the “Thor” movies, and a member of the 13th Legion in HBO’s “Rome,” has passed away. Stevenson’s representatives confirmed to The Associated Press on Monday that he had passed away the previous day, but provided no other information.
In 1964, Stevenson entered the world in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. Years of experience in British television followed by training at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School led to his film debut in Paul Greengrass’s 1998 film, “The Theory of Flight.” Starring as a Round Table knight in Antoine Fuqua’s “King Arthur” in 2004, he later starred as the title character in the pre-Disney Marvel adaptation “Punisher: War Zone.”

Although “Punisher” did not do well at the box office, he got another taste of Marvel in the first three “Thor” films as Volstagg. Besides the “Divergent” films, he had major roles in “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” and “The Transporter: Refueled.”
At 6-foot-4, Stevenson is a formidable presence on screen, and the actor, who has played both historical and modern troops, has said of himself, “I guess I’m an old warrior at heart.”
He first gained recognition in the United States through his performance as the shady Titus Pullo on the television series “Rome,” which he played at the age of 44 and which earned him a SAG card. The three successful seasons aired between 2005 and 2007.

In his review of “Rome,” Brian Lowery of Variety said, “the imposing Stevenson certainly stands out as a brawling, whoring, and none-too-bright warrior — a force of nature who, despite his excesses, somehow keeps landing on his feet.”
Among his many roles are Blackbeard on Starz’s “Black Sails,” Commander Jack Swinburne on Germany’s “Das Boot,” and Othere on “Vikings.”
In addition to voicing Gar Saxon in “Star Wars Rebels” and “The Clone Wars,” and appearing as a villain named Baylan Skoll in the upcoming Star Wars live-action series “Ahsoka,” Ray Stevenson has done voice work for several other Star Wars projects.
