Friday afternoon, firefighters in a village in central Massachusetts responded to a historic church that had caught fire after being struck by lightning, as reported by CBS News.
The Spencer Fire Department reported that at around 3 p.m., they responded to a call of a fire in the steeple of the First Congregational Church. The historic building on Route 9 was engulfed in flames and smoke.

According to the Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District, the church was hit by lightning during a previous storm.
