A dismal delay has plagued Studio Wildcard’s upcoming survival action-adventure game Ark 2. We’re hoping the 2024 wait will be worthwhile as the newest Ark installment was announced three years ago and has now been confirmed to have Vin Diesel on board as an executive producer in addition to having a prominent role in the game.
Despite the Elden Ring studio comparison, Wildcard CEO Doug Kennedy hinted to Ark 2’s mission to produce something which has never been done in video games, thus we know that Ark 2 will have “Souls-like melee combat” in a welcome departure from its norm.
Although we won’t be seeing the game on our list of new games for 2023 due to news of the delay, there are still enough of confirmed features to be excited about. With development on Unreal Engine 5, Ark 2 is one of the largest forthcoming Xbox Series X titles to keep an eye on while we wait for its launch in 2024.

Ark 2 Release Date
Ark 2 will now not be released this year as the release date has been changed from 2023 to Coming soon. The survival MMO was scheduled to debut in 2022 when it was initially revealed at The Game Awards in 2020. Studio Wildcard delayed Ark 2 to 2023 after two years without any updates, and then it was postponed to 2024.

Ark 2 Platforms
One of the most eagerly awaited 2023 PC games is Ark 2, but there is also a console exclusivity term to take into account. In addition to revealing Ark 2, Studio Wildcard also announced a relationship with Microsoft Gaming. Ark 2 is an Xbox Series X launch exclusive. Additionally, Ark 2 will be a part of the Xbox Game Pass lineup right away.
Will PS5 Receive Ark 2?
Developer Studio Wildcard has not responded to the query of whether Ark 2 will be released on the PS5, as it is solely advertised as an Xbox Series X “console launch exclusive”. As a result, Ark 2 will only be available on PC and Xbox Series X for an unspecified period of time before being released on other platforms, like the PlayStation 5.

Ark 2 Storyline
The Ark 2 plot will take place on an unidentified, alien planet after the events of Genesis: Part 2, the fifth and last paid DLC expansion pack for ARK: Survival Evolved that was released in 2021. Even though Studio Wildcard hasn’t provided many details on the Ark 2 plot, we can start to put together some hints by analyzing the Genesis: Part 2 ending.
The expansion, which takes place on a massive colony ship, comes to an end as the Genesis Ship is split in half. While the other half lies inactive in space, Rockwell’s twisted ring world falls into a gas planet. In the last minutes of Genesis: Part 2, we see one of the Santiago clones emerge from hibernation in time to be launched from the Genesis Ship’s wreckage onto an unidentified planet that resembles Earth. Most likely, this is the planet where Ark 2 takes place.
