Anna Shay, who starred in the Netflix program “Bling Empire,” has passed away at the age of 62. In a statement released to news outlets by Netflix, Shay’s family announced her passing.
Anna Shay, A Beloved Character On Bling Empire, Has Passed Away
Anna Shay’s family remarked, “It saddens our hearts to announce that Anna Shay, a loving mother, grandmother, charismatic star, and our brightest ray of sunshine, has passed away at the early age of 62 from a stroke. Anna taught us many life lessons on how not to take life too seriously and to enjoy the finer things. Her impact on our lives will be forever missed but never forgotten.”
The three-season Netflix original series premiered in 2021 and focuses on a group of obscenely wealthy Asian American socialites in Los Angeles who introduce viewers to their extravagant lifestyles, complete with Botox parties and private jets.
Season one focuses on the love triangle between self-made entrepreneur Kelly Mi Li, model Kevin Kreider, and her ex-boyfriend, “Power Rangers” actor Andrew Gray, as well as the petty rivalry between affluent heiress Anna Shay and worldwide fashionista Christine Chiu.
Shay was surprised by the show’s popularity and the attention she received for appearing on “Bling Empire.”

Shay told People in 2021, “I didn’t even expect to be on camera. I’m very shy and I went along with whatever situation was happening. I was just being me.”
Shay led a secluded existence before her “Bling Empire” popularity.
She was born in Japan to American industrialist and founder of Pacific Architects and Engineers Edward Shay and Russian-Japanese mother Ai Oizumi Shay. According to a feature published last year in Tatler, Shay sold her father’s company in 2006 for $1.2 billion with her brother.
Shay has been married four times, but she has never revealed the names of her husbands. Variety claims she raised a son she named Kenny Kemp.
Shay’s “Bling Empire” co-star Kevin Kreider paid tribute to the actor on Instagram.
“You never know when your last goodbye will be,” he wrote. “So unexpected and wished when I saw you last for lunch I would have taken a moment to smell the roses and had one last adventure with you.”
Even Shay’s “Bling Empire” co-star Kim Lee felt compelled to release a statement to the press, calling the actor’s de@th a “huge shock.”
“I have so much love for Anna. I know that we had issues on the show but in real life, I had such a great connection with her outside of the show,” Lee said. “We saw eye to eye, and she gave me so many words of wisdom I will never forget. There’s no one like Anna Shay; she’s an incredible and unique person who was beloved by so many people. My thoughts are with her family at this difficult time.”
