When Did The School Shooting In Nashville Occur?

On Monday, a horrible school shooting occurred. Nashville police said that the 28-year-old suspect in the tragic attack on the private Christian school they once attended may have been motivated by resentment, according to NBC News.

Police Chief John Drake of Metropolitan Nashville said, “There’s some belief that there was some resentment for having to go to that school.” According to the police, Hale meticulously plotted the attack by using maps and conducting surveillance.

Drake refrained from declaring that the gunman had a personal grudge against anyone at The Covenant School. Drake said that Hale’s actions suggested he was planning attacks in other areas.

Katherine Koonce, the dean of school at Covenant, died at the age of 60. “She picked random students in the school. Whoever she came in contact with, she struck at,” Drake said about the attacker.

According to reports, Hale shot open a locked door to gain access to the building. Local and federal officials are examining the alleged notes left behind by the ex-student.

Drake told reporters hours after the shooting, “We have some writings that we’re going over that pertain to this date, the actual incident. We have a map drawn out of how this was all going to take place.”

He said Hale was transgender. Drake said, “Officials think she identifies as trans, but we’re still in the early stages of finding out if that’s true and if it played a role in this incident.”

According to yearbooks kept by the former principal, Hale was in the third grade in 2005 and the fourth grade in 2006, respectively.

What the former student did to the teachers and students is just an absolute tragedy, Campbell said. Campbell speculated that Hale transferred after fourth grade because he was not recorded as a student in the fifth or sixth grade annuals.

The former headmaster said, “I’ve looked back at my annuals, and I do remember her as a former student. She was just another of our young ladies. … She was a typical co-ed. Typical student.”

Campbell was unable to think of any red signals that may have existed regarding Hale at the time. The former principal reflected on her time with the student and said, “I think about this student and our relationship at the time she was there, there was nothing extraordinary and unusual. She was loved and appreciated like all of our students.”

According to Drake, Hale arrived at the school on Monday armed with two rifles and a handgun. He also noted that two of the three firearms had been legally acquired in the Nashville region.
