Early Life
Richard Williams and Oracene Price had Venus Ebony Starr Williams on June 17, 1980, in Lynwood, California. When Venus was 10, her family moved from Compton, California, to West Palm Beach, Florida, so that she and her sister Serena could go to Rick Macci’s tennis academy. When Venus was 11, Richard Williams pulled her and her sister Serena out of national junior tennis tournaments.
