Tom Holland has stated that after starring in The Crowded Room, he chose to take a break from acting. The 27-year-old British actor has revealed that his mental health required him to take a year off after filming the new miniseries since it “broke” him.
The actor behind Spider-Man has spoken out about his urge to “relax” and “be a regular bloke” in a recent interview.

Tom, who will play in the upcoming AppleTV+ miniseries The Crowded Room and which he also produced, left him in need of a break.
Tom admitted that filming on the film was “tough” since he had to explore “certain emotions” he had “definitely never experienced before” due of the miniseries’ focus on mental health.
Based on Daniel Keyes’s 1981 novel The Minds of Billy Milligan, the plot of the upcoming TV show The Crowded Room centers on a young man’s arrest for a heinous crime and the detective assigned to solve it.
Tom will portray Danny Sullivan, a man who was arrested in 1979 for his role in a shooting in New York City.

He told Extra on Tuesday that he was taking time off so that he could be a “regular bloke from Kingston and just relax” after graduating from the BRIT School.
After saying he was “terrified by the idea” of plating Danny, he said it was really good thing for him. Daily Loud posted an official tweet in which Tom Holland announced he is taking a break from acting for his mental health: “I’m now taking a year off.”

“I just really agreed that it was time to tell the story about mental health — mental health that is brought on by trauma,” he added. Even though he really enjoyed working on the show, he said, “The show did break me.”
“I’m now taking a year off, and that is a result of how difficult this show was,” he continued.
