Robert Kiyosaki is a “Yonsei,” a member of the fourth generation of Japanese Americans. Robert Kiyosaki was born on April 8, 1947, to Ralph and Marjorie. Before his death in 1991, his father was a professor with a doctorate.

After graduating from high school, he enrolled in Naval College and subsequently enlisted in the United States Marine Corps to join his brother in the Vietnam War. From 1972 to 1973, he served as a helicopter gunship pilot in Vietnam. Business mogul Robert Kiyosaki claims that his time spent in the Marine Corps provided him with the moral fortitude to succeed in civilian life.

A major turning point occurred when Kiyosaki established Cashflow Technologies, Inc. in 1997. This was the business that would control the Rich Dad brand and other financial literacy programs. Robert Kiyosaki’s seminal work, Rich Dad Poor Dad, was released that same year.
