The first half of the second season of Resident Alien on SyFy just came to an end, and there’s a lot to talk about before the next set of episodes air this summer. This batch gave us eight episodes that followed Harry (Alan Tudyk), our favorite imposter, as he changed mentally and inside to become a being from more than one species.
That is, he has been on Earth long enough to feel “everything.” For the first time in his life, he feels kindness and friendship, which changes not only his soul but also his old desire to wipe out all humans. But as we saw in the last episode, getting in touch with his people won’t be easy.
Let’s break down the end of Resident Alien’s second season so you can understand this and what comes next:

A Step Back
Let’s take a step back. At the end of Episode 7, Harry and Asta (Sara Tomko) were still looking for the artist known as Goliath in New York (David Bianchi). At this point, we know that Goliath is an alien from the same planet as Harry. Since the intergalactic communicator is broken, Goliath maybe Harry’s only way to get in touch with his people.

But Harry and Asta find that Goliath is not only dead but that he has also left behind an egg that is a mix of a human and an alien. Harry and Asta leave the city on a train with the egg and head back to Colorado. Mysterious agents are after them, but Harry gets rid of them. We can now get to the end.
More to The Story
First, we see General Eleanor Wright (Linda Hamilton) meet with her spy, David Logan (Alex Barima), who wants his life back in exchange for the information he has given her about the alien and the egg. But they are attacked by a sniper, who kills David and makes Wright run for her life. The sniper turns out to be an alien and not a member of the military.
The next scene takes us back to Harry’s cabin, where the main characters of the town/show have all gathered for a surprise birthday party. All of this was set up by Ben (Levi Fiehler), who has other plans and wants the good doctor to get back to work as a doctor. This cabin is where most of the rest of the episode takes place.
A Party That’s Out Of This World
Harry goes downstairs to hide the egg in the basement when it looks like he won’t be able to get out of the situation easily. Asta and Gary are the only ones who know about this strange situation, so they are trying to get through this party without anything going wrong. That’s not going to happen, of course. When Harry goes down to get some ice, he sees that the egg has hatched and the alien baby has left.
At the same time, there is a lot of family drama going on at the party. Ben can tell that his wife Kate (Meredith Garretson) is acting strange. She might be pregnant, for example. She tells D’Arcy (Alice Wetterlund) that it’s not just that, She doesn’t like living in this small town either.
Congrats! It’s Deadly!
At this time, Sahar (Gracelyn Awad Rinke) and Max (Judah Prehn) are at one of their houses trying to figure out where military installations might be. They decide to go to the cabin so they can talk to Harry, who is back in town. Back at the cabin, Kate and D’Arcy go to the bathroom to take a pregnancy test.
The result shows that she is, in fact, pregnant. About then, Jay (Kaylayla Raine), Harry’s happiest moment, shows up with a delicious pie. This leads to a touching moment between Asta and her daughter, who has invited Asta to her 18th birthday party. But this progress is quickly overshadowed when Asta finds out that the alien baby has gotten away and that she and Harry have to find it before it eats everyone.
Nothing To See Here
Asta and Harry tell everyone at the party to stay inside because it is not safe outside the cabin. They try not to stand out. Lucky for Harry and Asta, there are lots of things to keep them from thinking about what’s important. That’s because Kate found out that not only did Ben hide the fact that he kissed D’Arcy, but he also plans to build a resort in town, which means Kate will probably stay in Colorado for a long time. Ben’s life is pretty much falling apart right now. Between the secret resort, he’s been planning, the baby, and the lies he’s been telling, it’s clear that he and Kate have a lot of work to do if they want to live in this town.

When they sing “Happy Birthday” to Harry, it almost seems like everything is back to normal after all this “human” drama. All of that stops when the power goes out (what an alien baby thing to do)! Deputy Liv Baker (Elizabeth Bowen) is the only one who can tell that aliens are at work in this town, even though everything else is crazy. Liv is also an “experiencer,” so she keeps having flashbacks and has a creepy feeling that something very strange is going on. She says she will do something and bring in an expert to help her find the aliens. Can you say “a sign from another planet”?
Adorably Deadly
Harry is now outside looking for the baby when all of a sudden he sees the thing on a tree. This baby jumps on Harry’s head and uses telekinesis to connect with him in a “virtual reality.” There, Harry sees that the baby is Goliath, and Goliath has a warning for Harry.
He tells him that there are more aliens on this planet than just them. There is, in fact, another very dangerous species. Goliath says that this race of aliens is the reason why Harry’s alien race doesn’t plan to visit Earth after all. When Harry is shot in the chest and Goliath, the baby jumps into the lake, the conversation ends quickly. Harry finds out who shot him. It is the alien sniper from earlier in the episode. And just before the alien fires his gun to kill Harry, Asta kills him with a shotgun. We end when D’Arcy comes to the scene, completely scared and confused about what’s going on.
What’s Next?
Here is where the episode and the first half of the season end. So what does our favorite Resident Alien have in store? Well, it looks like all the main characters are now involved in this mystery based on the short scenes we saw as a preview for the second half (which will come out in the summer). Especially, Liv. I guess Harry is going to need all the help he can get if he wants to save humans from an alien race that isn’t his own.
