I adore the combat music in PriConne not just because it is excellent in and of itself, but also because it reminds me of other fantastic battle themes, such as this one from early in Final Fantasy XIII-2, which puts me in the mood to write about this fantastic climax.
The concluding banquet of PriConne 2 is a delectable multi-course buffet consisting of an assortment of different forms, sizes, and colors. Yuuki not only empowers Pecorine, but also everyone else in the village, and the people of the town come together for the sake of their princess. Kaiser is incorrect; they are not ineffective just because they can yell. The fact that Peco and the others can battle and breakthrough is due to their efforts.

The moment Kaiser decides to “screw it, I’m going to destroy this wretched universe,” she summons her two aces in the hole, Neneka, and Labyrista, whose minds she has successfully overcome. However, their combined assault (which resembles the Bankai Senbonzakura Kageyoshi) is deflected and nullified…by a re-energized Karyl, who has chosen the correct side and remained on it throughout the battle.
With each successive round of the conflict, Kaiser (also known as Mana) yearns to be reunited with someone named “Minerva,” without whom she has suffered from crushing loneliness for countless time cycles. Yuuki can break Kaiser’s hold on Labyrista’s avatar, and Labyrista can immediately free Neneka from Kaiser’s clutches. Nachdem has been stripped of her two most formidable weapons, Kaiser redoubles her recklessness by allowing the shadows to encircle and overtake her.
The Gourmet Guild can plunge within the pile of goo, and Yuuki, Kokkoro, and Pecorine can clear the way for Karyl to reach her majesty and attempt to save her, as final bosses are wont to do.
Karyl, Kaiser’s Princess Knight, will not allow her body and spirit to be swallowed up by the abyss in a dark, desolate world on the verge of annihilating itself. Even when the structure around them cracks, Karyl refuses to let go, and even though getting her there resulted in Yuuki’s death, he decides to return and reach out to Karyl, bringing both of them out of certain oblivion and back into the world with her.
The Gourmet Guild emerges unscathed and victorious, much to the delight of the locals. Kaiser, either because she is no longer a threat or because she is unwilling to fight any longer, acknowledges her defeat and is jailed. Her hold over Peco’s parents has been broken, and they have come to remember and embrace their daughter.
It is with joy in their eyes that her friends watch as she sobs buckets of tears of joy into the bosom of her mother Queen Elizabeth II. After that, she returns to her rightful place in Landosol Castle, where she addresses her adoring audience.
Back at the Gourmet Guild, Karyl is the new chef, and she assures the other members that her dinner, while it may not appear to be much on the outside, is delicious on the inside. Yuuki and Kokkoro are pleased with her, but when Kokkoro makes the mistake of serving tea to their fourth member, the three of them are struck by the absence of their friend.
They won’t know she’s there until they hear her voice and see her through the doorway. While she is grateful that her parents recognize her and that she is once again a princess, she knows she has a long way to go before she is ready to rule the kingdom she has just reclaimed. As a result, she re-joins the Gourmet Guild as Pecorine, ready to go on a slew of new adventures and obtain the knowledge and expertise she’ll need when she ascends to the throne.
From beginning to end, this was a breathless banger; an episode with a lot to do that managed to do it off with a wonderful flourish before returning to the warm and serene Gourmet Guild residence. It’s pretty much precisely what I had hoped for in terms of a conclusion… We could all use a little more peaceful time together now that there are no secrets or split loyalties to contend with… There was nothing except food, pleasure, and family!
