Massachusetts’ Foxborough This evening, the New England Patriots unveiled their complete schedule for the 2022 season.
A Thanksgiving night game against the Minnesota Vikings will be televised on Thursday, Nov. 24, at 8:20 p.m. ET. For the sixth consecutive year, the Patriots will take the field on Thanksgiving Day in their home stadium. After a 49-19 victory over the New York Jets on Nov.
22, 2012, New England hasn’t played on Thanksgiving since. The Patriots will play on Thanksgiving for the fifth time since the 2000 season.
Monday Night Football on Oct. 24 will see the Patriots host Chicago in addition to the Thanksgiving game against Minnesota.
This will be the first time in the history of the Patriots franchise that they play four consecutive prime-time games, starting with the Thanksgiving Day matchup. The New England Patriots host the Buffalo Bills on Dec. 1 — one week after Thanksgiving.
There have never been two Thursday games in a row for the team, and this will be their first and only time playing two Thursday games in the same season. Monday night football was a regular occurrence in both the 2015 and 2017 seasons for the New England Patriots.
The Patriots will then travel to Arizona for Monday Night Football on December 12 and Las Vegas for Sunday Night Football on December 18 for their next two primetime games. In 2007, the Patriots played three straight games in front of a live television audience.
The 2017 Pittsburgh Steelers were the last team to play four consecutive prime-time games.
On Sunday, September 11, at 1:00 p.m., the New England Patriots will kick off the 2022 season by travelling to Miami to face the Dolphins. It will be the Patriots’ first season opener on the road since 2016. In addition, this will be the Dolphins’ third straight season as the team’s season opener.
The Patriots will begin the 2020 and 2021 seasons against Miami at Gillette Stadium in New England. Miami has hosted the Patriots 11 times, and this is the Patriots’ first time opening a season there since the 2014 season.
When the Patriots first faced the same opponent three years in a row, it was against the Baltimore Colts in 1981, 1982, and 1983.
The Patriots will begin the 2022 season on the road for the first time since 2014 when they face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Sept. 18, following the season opener.
Since 2000, this will be only the third time the Patriots have opened with two straight away games. In 2003, the Patriots began their season with a pair of away contests as well.
For the first time ever, the Baltimore Ravens will visit Gillette Stadium to face the Patriots in the home opener of their season on Sept. 25.
There are three home games in December: one on Christmas Eve against the defending AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals, and one on New Year’s Day against Miami. The trip to Green Bay on Oct. 2 is another highlight of the 2022 schedule.
To conclude the regular season, the Patriots will play Buffalo. Both Saturday, Jan. 7 and Sunday, Jan. 8 have been set as possible dates for the Buffalo Bills’ Week 18 clash. Late in the season, it will be decided on the date and time of the game.
As a result of hosting nine games in 2021, the AFC will play nine games away from home in 2022, which is a first for the league. From 2021, New England will face six playoff teams, including Arizona, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Green Bay, Las Vegas, and Pittsburgh.
The New England Patriots will play one game against each AFC North and NFC North team in addition to their two AFC East games. AFC East second-place teams in 2021 will also face the second-place teams in the AFC South, AFC West, and NFC West, respectively (Arizona).
