Lauren Conrad Television Career
MTV’s 2004 reality show “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” starred Lo Bosworth, Kristin Cavallari, and Stephen Colletti, all of whom were students at Laguna Beach High School. In the first season, the show focused mostly on the romantic entanglements of Conrad, Cavallari, and Colletti as they went through high school.
Conrad went to the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles after a brief stint at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where she met her future best friend Heidi Montag.
After Conrad’s departure at the end of the second season of “Laguna Beach,” the spin-off series “The Hills” went into production the following year. The new show followed Conrad, her roommate Montag, and their mutual friends Audrina Patridge and Whitney Port.
In the middle of the fifth season, Conrad left the show, and former “Laguna Beach” co-star Kristin Cavallari was brought in to take her place.
She has also appeared on episodes of “Family Guy” and “Greek,” and she has served as a guest judge on the reality show “America’s Next Top Model.” In the comedy “Epic Movie,” released in 2007, she also portrayed a parody of herself.

In March of 2008, during LA Fashion Week, Conrad debuted her first clothing line, titled simply The Lauren Conrad Collection. As revenues continued to drop, she decided to stop it after only a year.
Afterward, in the fall of 2009, she collaborated with American retailer Kohl’s to launch the LC by Lauren Conrad clothing brand, which is sold in locations around the country.
Her collection at Kohl’s features a wide range of products, from home décor to apparel to accessories to clothing to denim. Along with her hairstylist Kristin Ess and makeup artist Amy Nadine, she developed The Beauty Department and apparel company Paper Crown.
College Tonight, a social networking site, is one of Conrad’s endorsed brands, as is “mark,” a branch of Avon focused on young women.
In June 2009, Conrad released her debut novel, “L.A. Candy,” which quickly rose to the top of The New York Times bestseller list.
Its sequels, “Sweet Little Lies” (2009) and “Sugar and Spice” (2010), both did well enough to warrant their films. The show, which follows Jane Roberts, a lady who relocates to Los Angeles, was inspired by Roberts’ own experiences.
