The Appearance of Kirito
Real World / Sword Art Online Avatar
At the start of the game and during beta testing, Kirito’s avatar appeared to be an attractive antagonist who was significantly older than he was. When he used the “Hand Mirror” that was given to them by Kayaba Akihiko, his avatar became more accurately representative of his actual appearance. Like, seriously hot.
Kirito has jet black eyes and slightly long, tidy black hair. His face is so soft and feminine that he is sometimes mistaken for a woman.

He becomes well-known in SAO as the “Black Swordsman” (Kuro no Kenshi?) after the beginning stages, presumably because of his penchant for donning all-black garb. After revealing his Sword Skill “Dual Blades,” he wields both the black “Elucidator” and the white “Dark Repulser.”
After a public duel, he was vanquished by Knights of the Blood leader Heathcliff, who promptly recruited him to wear the red and white uniform of the group.
When he’s out in public, he prefers to wear dark hues.

Because of the black-themed weapons and armor of the Spriggan race, Kirito decided to adopt their default appearance for his first appearance. His black hair stood in natural spikes, rather than hanging in the usual forelocks.
His greyish-blue wings stood out against his black, squinting eyes. His hair, which is usually worn in spikes, is down during Mother’s Rosario. He’s armed with an enormous broadsword fit for “Imps” or other massive characters. On rare occasions, he’ll use his SAO-honed dual-wielding skills.
After returning from a brief sojourn in Gun Gale Online, he converts his avatar back to his original appearance, keeping the same untidy hair and mischievous black eyes. He gets a new coat and a longsword to replace his broadsword.
His dual-wielding weapon, the “Holy Sword Excaliber,” which he acquires in late December 2025.

Kirito’s GGO character is the elusive “M9000” kind, the envy of many male players. He still has jet-black hair that falls in a sleek style to his shoulders. His lips are bright red, and his complexion is a pale pink. His long eyelashes frame his dark eyes, which shine with a deep blackness. Unless you knew otherwise, you may assume he was a woman. This throws Sinon for a loop, as he assists him in thinking he is a woman, only to discover in the locker room that he is a man.
His arsenal includes an FN Five-Seven handgun and a “Kagemitsu G4” photon sword.
The Appearance of Roronoa Zoro
Zoro is a slender middle-aged man with a healthy glow and a few extra pounds of muscle. His three swords are constantly with him; he wears a green haramaki over his right hip to keep them protected and ready for use with his left hand.
The Wado Ichimonji is the only one of his three swords that has remained unchanged throughout the years; the other two have been destroyed and replaced with newer and better versions. He rests his right hand on his swords, yet he can easily draw them out and sit down with the same hand. On his left earlobe, he wears a trio of gold hoops. When Zoro is in a tough fight, he removes the black bandana from his left arm and wraps it around his head.
Zoro’s body is riddled with scars from his many confrontations, the most notable of which is the enormous scar he received when he lost to the world’s best swordsman, Dracule Mihawk, at Baratie, and which runs from his left shoulder to his right hip.
Another set of noticeable scars is the ones he inflicted upon his ankles when he tried to chop his feet off at Little Garden to escape from Mr. 3’s Giant Candle Service Set. A new scar appeared over his left eye after the time jump, albeit how it got there is unclear.
Sanji regularly makes fun of Zoro for his green trimmed hair by calling him “marimo” (moss-ball, moss-head in the Viz Manga and FUNimation version) because of the resemblance to a moss.
