Were all of you comic book fans waiting impatiently for Todd Phillips to reveal whether or not there would be a Joker sequel?
No? Oh well. You can read Phillips’ Instagram announcement of a Joker sequel from the beginning of June here. Two images were uploaded to the director’s account. The first is the title page of the script for the future movie, which states that its working title is Joker: Folie à Deux.
The second image depicts Joaquin Phoenix, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as the Joker in the first film adaptation, reading the relevant script. Now, on October 4, 2024, Joker: Folie à Deux will return to terrorise us all, claims Deadline.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed earlier this summer that the movie Joker: Folie à Deux is a musical and that Lady Gaga was in serious talks to play the villain’s on-again, off-again love interest, Harley Quinn. Gaga has since tweeted a spookier-than-hell trailer for the movie, which you can see below, officially confirming her involvement.

Now, Phillips’ initial announcement of a Joker sequel came as a bit of a surprise because neither Phillips nor Phoenix looked overly interested in reviving the series, especially after The Batman appeared to hire Barry Keoghan as yet another rival Joker. The title is the only clue we have as to where this movie might truly take Arthur Fleck.
