When two powerful giants like Thanos and the Hulk are shown fighting it out across multiple platforms, the question of who is superior naturally arises. The first half of Avengers: Infinity War culminated ten years of buildup by pitting these two against each other in what should have been a tremendous smackdown but ultimately fell short.
As a result, we need to know if Thanos is actually more powerful than the Hulk. You might be shocked by what we find. The answer is “yes” and “no” depending on what you’re comparing it to. Not every Thanos has the Infinity Gauntlet, therefore the battles aren’t as thrilling.

Thanos vs MCU Hulk
The opening sequence of the aforementioned Infinity War featured this little conflict, which was very anticlimactic. The Mad Titan effortlessly defeated the Hulk without resorting to the use of the Power Stone, the only Infinity Stone he possessed at the moment. Thanos’ refined fighting style was too much for Hulk, no matter how violent and nasty he was. It took Thanos only a few swift hits to end the fight, but Hulk’s two-second advantage owing to surprise was short-lived. Thanos is the undeniable victor in this fight.

The question of who will emerge victorious was one that Thanos himself tackled in the first Thanos Quest film, released in 1990. Thanos, who has just defeated Champion in his search for the Infinity Stones, recognizes that his upcoming battle with Hulk would be challenging “The angrier he gets, the stronger he gets.
This is probably what it’s like to fight the Hulk, the massive Terran monster. This is an argument I’ve worked hard to avoid.” Like if you don’t want to perform yard work on a hot bright day, Thanos admits he would avoid it because it would be difficult in the end. Thanos has Hulk chained up like a pet in another scenario, thus he not only would win but already has won.
