With a pact with the books’ author J.K. Rowling, who has creative control over any exploitation of her work, the long-rumored Harry Potter TV series for HBO Max is on track to reach the screen.
According to reports, Warner Bros. is in talks with Rowling to have her become a producer on the project. The project, which is still in its infancy, is scheduled to begin seeking a writer once she joins the team. The basic premise of the proposed TV show is that each season will revolve around one of the seven Harry Potter novels.

Only a little bit more than ten years have passed since the release of the final Harry Potter film, and it would appear that it is time to recount the narrative of the child wizard once more. According to a report by Lucas Shaw of Bloomberg, HBO is getting closer to finalizing a contract to adapt J.K. Rowling’s seven-book series into a brand new television show.
According to the source, each novel in the series would be turned into a television season. When compared to the first movie adaptation, which kicked off in 2001 with the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the television adaptation will have more room to explore the Wizarding World of the books and will have less need to exclude some aspects of the story.

Despite the continued success of the Harry Potter franchise—including the release of the highly anticipated computer game Hogwarts Legacy in February—author J.K. Rowling is still embroiled in controversy over transphobic comments she made.
According to a report by Bloomberg, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, and the CEO of HBO, Casey Bloys, had to convince the author to let the company produce the new series, which would air on HBO and online. There is no word yet on how involved Rowling would be with this new series, but the report claims that Zaslav and Bloys had to do so.
