Tulsi Tanti, founder, chairman, and managing director of Suzlon Energy passed away on October 1 from cardiac arrest, according to a news release. Tanti, at 64 years old, was well recognized as a leading authority in the field of renewable energy.
PTI cited an official as saying that Tanti, who was also the chairman of the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association, had a cardiac arrest while traveling from Ahmedabad to Pune.
His children Nidhi and Pranav will carry on his legacy.

Tanti founded Suzlon Energy in 1995, which marked the beginning of the wind energy revolution in India.
During a period when overseas players dominated the global wind energy market and the field was characterized by expensive and difficult technology that was mainly unviable for traditional enterprises, he saw an opportunity in India’s renewable energy sector.
By introducing a novel approach to doing business, he envisioned a complete set of measures that would make it possible for companies to “Go Green,” making him an important player in the field of sustainable enterprise development.
Tanti has guided the company to unprecedented heights as it has become a major player in the international renewable energy sector.
Because of his foresight, Suzlon now has research and development centers in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and India, where more than 200 engineers are employed.
