Thanos and All Might are two formidable characters in the Marvel Comics and My Hero Academia manga worlds, with no equal in terms of strength, durability, or resolve to succeed. However, readers will never get a definitive answer to the question of who would win in a winner-take-all battle because these two legends will likely never be able to transcend franchise lines to canonically trade punches and slap each other down with abandon.
Considering their respective skill sets, actions, battles, victories, defeats, and everything in between, it appears that these two are roughly on equal footing in a hypothetical matchup. Yet, there can be only one victor when the smoke clears, and the time to find out who that might be has arrived.

All Might the Ultimate Hero
All Might, as the past greatest hero and the guy practically everyone in My Hero Academia’s superhero-filled universe looks up to and idolizes, is a character who personifies the goals and aspirations of everyone around him.
Even though All Might’s powers have been ebbing away from him since he passed his quirk down to his apprentice, Midoriya aka Deku, he still packs a mean punch when called upon and can effortlessly dispatch the villains who are always trying to trap him between a rock and a hard place.

Using the family’s great power, which has been passed down from generation to generation, All Might is able to push himself to his absolute limits (Plus Ultra!) and accomplish the seemingly impossible. All Might is equipped with the ultimate assault, the powerful and iconic one-shot punch known as the United States of Smash, as well as other powerful yet similar attacks, to beat down his opponents, and he also possesses the speed, durability, and intelligence to overcome any challenge he faces.
Thanos the Ultimate Villain
Thanos, the life-stealing evil who is hated across the Marvel multiverse and single-handedly to blame for wiping out half of all known existence, is a supervillain on par with the most powerful beings in the cosmos, if not more so.
Thanos, who can wield his power with or without the Infinity Gauntlet, has faced off against some of Marvel’s greatest heroes and has seldom been defeated by a single hero; usually, it takes a team effort to give him more than a flesh wound to moan about.
Thanos is a multifaceted villain with a punch that can shatter bones, unmatched combat awareness, and unfathomable durability. He has withstood the pull of a black hole, the onslaught of attacking superheroes at their peak power, and a full blast from the mouth of the overpowered Inhuman known as Black Bolt.
Thanos, rumored to be distantly related to the nearly immortal beings known as Eternals, tops the list of ridiculously powerful Marvel characters and seems to be becoming stronger by the day because of his habit of not letting himself get outmatched by the heroes he faces.
And The Winner Is…
Now that All Might and Thanos’ respective strengths and weaknesses have been laid bare, the fate of this epic showdown hangs in the balance. Not for lack of trying on All Might’s part, but the Mad Titan himself, Thanos, would have to take the title belt home from this match.
Even though Thanos isn’t massively more powerful than All Might by himself, he is an intellectual genius when it comes to fighting, and All Might’s weakness in the manga, where his powers aren’t as strong as they once were, is a hole in his defenses that Thanos would find in no time. Thanos and All Might would be evenly matched throughout, but as soon as Thanos realizes All Might is losing his strength, speed, and endurance, he would easily move in for the kill shot, giving new meaning to his Mad Titan name as he pummels All Might with a level of rage that is unparalleled across comics.
Thanos has repeatedly shown that he can withstand the attacks of some of Marvel’s most powerful heroes, such as Thor, Wolverine, or Hulk, giving All Might a slim chance to come out on top, but ultimately not having enough raw power to put Thanos away for good.
Thanos’ endurance, durability, and power level matching that of All Might’s would undoubtedly be enough to eke out a win despite it being a hard-fought battle all around (unless Thanos has access to the Infinity Gauntlet, after which he’d probably win without breaking a sweat).
All Might from My Hero Academia may be the best hero in the eyes of many readers, but his powers have been dwindling recently, making him a less formidable opponent as the fight progresses. Thanos from Marvel could easily knock him out when he’s at his weakest, settling once and for all who would win if the two comic book characters ever faced off.
