Narcos Mexico Season 4

Why Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico Was Cancelled – and the Chances of a Season 4

Narcos: Mexico spoilers follow.

This season’s 10 new episodes of Narcos: Mexico, which premiered on Netflix on November 5th, are the final ones to be produced.

The Hollywood Reporter spoke to co-creator Carlo Bernard about why the show was ending.

As he put it, “I saw this season as an origin story of the modern world,” When I saw the show, I thought it made sense for it to end at the point where we now recognise, good or bad, that the show had reached. There is a lot of backstories that the show has been able to shed light on.

As far as I’m concerned, there are plenty of other compelling stories out there. In the end, however, I felt that stopping at the point where we had created the world we now inhabit made thematic and narrative sense. No, we don’t want to relive our past mistakes.

Naturally, the origins of Narcos: Mexico go back to the original Narcos series, which aired from 2015 to 2017 and was set in Colombia. A new original series, Narcos: Mexico, was launched in 2018, which focuses on the growth of Mexico’s illegal narcotics trade instead of a fourth season.

Kiki Camarena (Michael Pea) is a DEA agent who investigates the Guadalupe Cartel, led by Miguel ngel Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna). He also features Scoot McNairy as Walt Breslin, a DEA agent who investigates the Mexican drug trade.

Third and final season focuses on bosses who replace Gallardo in prison after his arrest at end of season two.

Narcos and Narcos: Mexico ran for three seasons, so the creative team could start a new version of Narcos rather than return to the current story in Mexico.

Bernard has hinted at the possibility of more Narcos in an interview with Collider. “Honestly, this is sort of the end of the ride, at least for the time being,” he said, adding that he had no further plans. Unfortunately, the drug trade isn’t going away, so other iterations are possible. There’s nothing planned.

“For the time being, this is all there is… ” In some ways, we felt like our story was coming together… Because of this, it seemed like a good place to end the third season in Mexico.”

A new six-episode limited series about Colombian drug queen Griselda Blanco, which Modern Family star Sofia Vergara will star in, is also being worked on by the Narcos team (including executive producer Eric Newman).

Vergara and producer Luis Balaguer have worked on the project for eight years. As Vergara told The Hollywood Reporter, “Griselda Blanco was an outsized character whose ruthless but ingenious tactics allowed her to rule a billion-dollar empire years before many of the most notorious male kingpins we know so much about.

It wasn’t until the second season of the original Narcos that Griselda Blanco, who was known as Black Widow and the Cocaine Grandmother, was given a role in the show.

In 2017, Catherine Zeta-Jones played the role in Cocaine Godmother, and Jennifer Lopez is set to star in a biopic called The Godmother, which is based on a book by the same name.
