Dunham’s battle with endometriosis is probably the cause of her weight increase. The actress has previously been transparent about how her illness affected her, and earlier this year she disclosed that she had undergone a hysterectomy.

She also has retrograde bleeding, also known as her period going backwards so that her stomach is filled with blood, endometrial illness, a strange hump-like protrusion, and a septum running down the middle. The muscles surrounding the sacral nerves in her back that allow us to walk have been invaded by her ovaries.

She then discovered that there were difficulties after having surgery to remove her ovaries from her rectal wall. She described herself as being in the greatest amount of physical pain that she have ever experienced. The uterus and cervix are removed during a hysterectomy, which is the procedure she finally chose.

Later, Dunham remarked that she made the decision to open up about her battle with the illness to help other women in similar situations.
