CELTIC TOLD CLUB THEY’D PAY £3.5M FOR MAN ‘IN DECLINE’, NOW HE’S UP FOR SALE

Shabab Al Ahli of the United Arab Emirates will let Celtic target Mehdi Ghayedi depart during the summer transfer window, according to Imna, because Hoops manager Ange Postecoglou is a fan of the Iranian nation.

I think it’s fair to say that Postecoglou deserves a second chance at this point.

Among the people of Glasgow, Ghayedi is an unknown quantity. As for Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda, and Reo Hatate, they weren’t.

There is value to be discovered outside of European football if you are ready to take a risk since all four of the players named above came to Celtic from clubs outside of Europe.

With a point to prove in mind, Ghayedi would be arriving at Parkhead.

Since joining Shabab Al Ahli from Egyptian side Esteghlal last year, the small playmaker has scored five goals and set up three more in 20 appearances.

A RISKY MOVE BY CELTIC AGAINST MEHDI GHAYEDI?

We can categorically say that Mehdi Ghayedi’s time in the UAE has been a failure, according to a Middle Eastern journal that published this past weekend.

“We hope that these proposals will not be merely speculation in the media. Moreover, Mehdi will join a European team due to his talent and youth.

“However, it is concerning because his present trend is showing a big decrease.”

It’s unclear if Celtic would be interested in re-signing a player whose recent performances have been less than stellar. There were a handful of approaches made by the Hoops during the January transfer market.

They were willing to pay more than £3.5 million for the property.

At the moment, Shabab Al Ahli was reluctant to let go of a crucial player in the midst of a title fight.

But with Imna claiming that Ghayedi is free to leave, it’s tempting to question if Al Ahli has given up and accepted defeat. In order to cash in on his reputation before it falls any further, they may be trying to do so now.

Whether or not Celtic can acquire Ghayedi is no longer the issue.
