A two-horse race in the NL Central has developed between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers (18-15). Despite the fact that the team hasn’t had a particularly dominant stretch of the season, they’ve been consistently good throughout the entire year.
They’ve won five of their last 10 games, but they’ve also won two in a row. This season, Mikolas has allowed just seven earned runs in 42 innings of work for the Cardinals. Since his last four starts, he has thrown at least five innings in each of them.
The Mets (23-13) had a great start to the season and finished first in the NL East. Still leading the division by 5.5 games, but they’ve recently come back to earth a little. As of this writing, they have won five of their last 10 games and have just lost a three-game series in Seattle.
Williams is more often than not a reliever, but today he will make his second start of the season. He’s pitched 11 innings and allowed seven runs, all of which were earned. He lasted just 2.0 innings in a loss to the Diamondbacks, allowing four earned runs and striking out none. A short leash is in order for him today.

In spite of having a better overall record, New York’s hot streak has cooled off a bit, while St. Louis has maintained a steady pace throughout the season. Williams is making a spot start after struggling mightily to do so earlier in the season, and Mikolas is also on a roll right now.
Tomas Nido, U0.5 hits (+105), is my player prop pick.
With James McCann out for a while with a broken wrist, Nido is likely to be the Mets primary catcher. Even though the sample size against lefties is small, he has not hit the ball as well this season against right-handers as he has against left-handers. Take Nido to be hitless on Monday night with plus odds.
