As of late Thursday afternoon, the northerly wind shifted to the south and brought with it an extremely frigid air mass that will continue to spread southward into Friday and Saturday.
In Orchard Park, temperatures are expected to fall into the single digit range by that late hour, with a 5-10 mph easterly breeze that will lower wind chills below zero.

A physician’s assistant at Arnot Health, Sarah Winward, explained that when you consume alcohol, your blood is brought closer to the skin’s surface, allowing you to cool down faster than you would otherwise.
