Bal Gangadhar Tilak, often referred to as Keshav Gangadhar Tilak, was born in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, on July 23, 1856.
He was an Indian patriot, teacher, and independence activist known by the name Lokmanya. The movement for Indian independence was founded by Tilak.
He was dubbed “The Maker of Modern India” by Mahatma Gandhi.
