The fourth and final season of Stranger Things has come to a close. Eleven’s gruesome ordeal at the Hawkins lab and the Upside Down mystery were both solved. It was so simple to see the show concluding in that last episode since things were wrapped up so well.
Then again, there’s still a full season to go. For the students who have to prepare to defend Hawkins, or whatever is left of it, it might be terrible news This is wonderful news, however, for those of us who are unable to give up on Steve “The Hair” Harrington and his entertaining team.

When will Stranger Things’ final season be released?
What Erica found under Lucas’ bed isn’t the only thing that’s a mystery. In between seasons one and two, we had to wait a year, and then two more years to see the third and fourth seasons of the show. As a result, (check our photo collection to see how quickly the youngsters are maturing) According to the Duffer Brothers, who spoke to Variety directly, fans shouldn’t have to wait as long this time around because filming hasn’t even begun. Our best guess would be that the show will air sometime in the spring or early summer of 2024. Mid-2024 is Hopper’s estimated release date.
What’s this about a time jump?
In other words, as we already stated, the children are becoming older. At the age of 18, Millie Bobby Brown plays the role of 11; at the age of 30, Joe Keery plays the role of Steve. The last season would be in 1987 if each season was pushed forward by a year. It is possible, though, that if the show jumps more than one year in time, the younger kids could catch up to their actual ages—say, when the show picked up as they were about to graduate from Hawkins High School.
A time jump has been verified by The Walking Dead’s writers—the Duffer brothers—but no further information has been released. In the wake of season four’s finale, Hawkins was literally on fire, so it appears that the kids need to go back into action as soon as possible. The Duffers will have to figure it out when they reopen their show’s writing room.
Fewer settings
Hopper and Joyce spent most of season four in Russia; Eleven began in California (we’re still out for vengeance on roller-rink meanie Angela), and some of the crew returned to Hawkins for the final third of the season. The Duffer Brothers claim the show will focus on keeping everyone in Hawkins for the final season, despite the show’s fluid transitions between locations.
The importance of Will Byers
Season one began with Will Byers being kidnapped, and it now appears that the show will return to that arc. Will is “a huge component and focus” of the last season, according to Ross Duffer. During the fourth season, there have been rumours that Will was trying to come out to Mike about his sexual orientation, which would have been a far more significant event in 1986. Furthermore, the fact that Will still seems to be in touch with Vecna adds a layer of difficulty to whatever he does.
Eddie and Max
The Duffers have reassured viewers that the poignant death of new character Eddie Munson, who gave himself up in season four, is true. Although Alexei didn’t get to play the part, Joseph Quinn may appear in a flashback, but the character won’t play a significant role in the upcoming season.

Max Mayfield, who has played a significant role in the show since its second season, finds it to be distinct. Vecna attempted to kill Max in the hospital towards the end of the fourth season, much as he had attempted to kill others before her by gouging their eyes out and destroying their bones. She remains in a coma and is still alive, but she is not in good health. However, it doesn’t seem likely that the Duffers will harm Max; in fact, the time travel may aid in the recovery of her bones and brain.
Don’t expect another ‘Running Up That Hill’
Running Up That Hill, a song by Kate Bush from 1985, was notably featured in the fourth season and went on to top charts all over the world. But don’t anticipate that the Duffers will simply select another song from the 1980s to promote season 5.
“What song are [you] going to perform in Season 5?” is a question I’ve already been asked. In an interview with Collider, Matt Duffer remarked. “We’re not going to do that again,” I say. Because it will fail if we attempt it.” Indeed, it probably would. Unfortunately, there is only one Kate Bush, and lightning is famously difficult to capture.
They also said in a statement to Variety that “we do have a concept for a spinoff that we’re thrilled about.” According to the founders, they haven’t even told Netflix about the concept yet since they want everyone to be surprised. However, they also claimed that Mike’s actor Finn Wolfhard had properly predicted the spinoff subject. We will have to wait until that happens unless someone can get Finn to spill the beans.
