Welcome to the newest Young Royals season on Netflix! Actually, not yet, of course. Although the third season of the show hasn’t officially been announced as of the time of writing, it’s hard to argue with a show that combines Heartstopper, Skam, and The Crown into one compelling series.
And that’s more true now that season two ended on a cliffhanger. The one, you know. Keep your meatballs secure and follow us here as we fill you in on all the details of Sweden’s Young Royals season three on Netflix.

Young Royals Season 3 Release Date
Young Royals’ first two seasons were separated by over a year and a half, but season three may come out sooner than season two did now that COVID restrictions appear to be lifted. If so, the release date might be in the winter of 2023.
That, however, is contingent upon how soon a season three renewal is revealed. Netflix normally decides whether to renew a show a month or so after the start of a new season. If it takes longer than that, the release date might be pushed out to 2024. However, recently a fan on Tiktok revealed that they saw the cast of Young Royals filming season 3.

Young Royals Season 3 Cast
Young Royals wouldn’t be what it is without the Young Royals and Simon, so you can expect to see most of the following back for a third season:
- Edvin Ryding as Prince Wilhelm of Sweden
- Omar Rudberg as Simon Eriksson
- Malte Gårdinger as August of Årnäs
- Frida Argento as Sara Eriksson
- Nikita Uggla as Felice Ehrencrona
Inti Zamora Sobrado as Ayub, Simon’s friend from Bjärstad; Beri Gerwise as Rosh, Simon’s friend from Bjärstad; Pernilla August as Queen Kristina of Sweden; and Carmen Gloria Pérez as Linda, Simon and Sara’s mother; are all likely to join them in the supporting cast. Leonard Terfelt plays Micke, the father of Simon and Sara, while Ingela Olsson plays Miss Anette Lilja, the principal of Hillerska.
Ivar Forsling, who plays Prince Erik, is one important cast member who most likely won’t be coming back. Wilhelm’s older brother only occasionally appeared in flashbacks for seasons two and three after his passing at the conclusion of season one due to the passage of time.
Young Royals Season 3 Plot
The hidden romance between Simon and Prince Wilhelm of Sweden has dominated the first two seasons of Young Royals. However, following the betrayal at the end of season one, this relationship got much more problematic. At one point, Simon even started d@ting someone else in an effort to move past Wil.

But in the season two conclusion, the Prince decides to admit that it was indeed him in that leaked se* tape all along, just as he had previously agreed to be Wilhelm’s secret. By saying that, he is publicly acknowledging both his se*uality and his love for Simon.
Simon is as shocked by this unexpected change of events as are all the royal advisors, who are sputtering. Even while everything is still very uncertain, it appears that Simon and Wilhelm may actually be able to experience some happiness together in the open.
And to top it all off, Sara just revealed August as the person who first made the se* tape and later intentionally leaked it. Will he be put in jail? Will August be protected by the Royal Family in spite of everything he did to Simon and Wilhelm? Omar thinks that despite everything, Simon and Wilhelm will be able to experience a happy ending, even if it is short-lived.
