VALORANT UPDATE 4.04 NEWS AND PATCH NOTES
While some players are eagerly awaiting the release of Riot Games’ Episode 4 Act 2 patch, others are gearing up to get their hands on the brand new Battle Pass in its place. It’s important to note that the development team has made significant Agent modifications in this latest release before getting started with it. In addition to these, one character in particular has undergone a reimagining.
To get things off, Riot Games says the expected Yoru revamp, a new Controller job, and an upgrade to Icebox are all included. So, let’s start with Yoru. According to Riot, Fakeout is now a mirror image of Yoru and will be useful for punishing players who intentionally deceive their opponents. With teleport beacon Gatecrash’s new ability to fake teleport cues, Yoru may generate pressure throughout the map and confuse foes.
Yoru’s utility and vision are now fully accessible thanks to the dimensional drift, allowing him to take advantage of his teammates’ space while also putting pressure on the other team. Riot Games has added a new element to the competitive section of the game aside from character modifications. To expand the variety of maps that players face, a new “deterministic map system” is being tested on LATAM.
Assuming no problems arise, they want to release the new system within the next several days or weeks. What Valorant patch notes readers should be aware of include the following:
VALORANT PATCH NOTES
- AGENT UPDATES
- GENERAL
- Improved the system used to place abilities at targeted ground locations. This update should make it easier to find valid placement locations in tight spaces. These are the abilities affected:
- Omen’s Shrouded Step
- Viper’s pit
- Chamber’s Trademark and Rendez-vous
- Every Killjoy ability
- Yoru’s Gatecrash
- Sage’s Barrier Orb
OMEN
Omen has struggled to find his place in the meta as VALORANT’s strategic versatility has grown. It’s becoming increasingly tough to defend his inclusion in higher tiers of play for many of you. If you want your controller to be more reliable, we’d like to roll back certain early Dark Cover penalties and strengthen his combat-focused skillset.
Cover in Dark Colors
Reduced from 40 to 30 seconds
Cost went from 100 to 150.
Increased Projectile Speed by 2800 to 6400
The cost of the Shrouded Step was reduced by 150 compared to 100.
One second of pre-teleport latency was reduced to 0.7 seconds.
Paranoia
Increased the forward spawn offset so that players near Omen would not be affected.
BRIMSTONE
At this point, we believe Brimstone is in good health, yet he was underwhelming in certain situations. He felt confined by his Stim Beacon’s inflexibility and restrictions on smoke deployment. With these adjustments, we want to make Brimstone a viable option on a larger number of maps.
Smoke from the Sky
Deployment time was reduced by 2 seconds to just over a second.
An increase in the deployment radius of 5500
The height of the smoke has been adjusted to match other Controllers Stim Beacon’s
In addition to RapidFire, a 15 percent speed boost is now applied.
ASTRA
It has taken time for Astra to become a dominant force in both coordinated and high MMR play because of her mastery of her play patterns. Brimstone and Omen were unable to keep up with the map-wide impact of her utility since she had crowded them out. In an effort to make room for more of our Controllers, we’re taking steps to make their respective strengths more obvious. As a first step, this reduces the utility output of her abilities and increases the cooldown time of her abilities. With this, we’ll be making several quality-of-life and bug repairs that we feel have been needed for a long time now.
Stars
The maximum number of stars has been reduced from five to four.
Retrieving a Star’s cooldown was raised from 14 to 25 seconds.
During the Buy Phase, Astra can now take up put Stars and quickly return their charge.
For the first time, she was able to install Stars in the most remote regions of the map.
Well of Gravity
There is no longer a full effect of the Gravity Well on everyone beneath it, as the cooldown has been increased by 25 >>> 45.
The cooldown of the nova pulse has increased from 25 to 45
Those who are entirely submerged in the Nova Pulse are no longer affected by the Nova Pulse.
The cooldown time for Nebula has been increased from 14 to 25.
Sequential cooldowns have replaced simultaneous cooldowns for Nebula cooldowns.
Pings are no longer obstructed by level geometry that Astra cannot perceive when in Astral form.
To better reflect the unified scale of Astra’s utility in Astral form, her targeting rings have been condensed into just one.
In various map regions, Astra’s target ring no longer randomly disappears.
speeded up Astra’s screen overlay when changing into and out of Astral form.
Fixed a problem where Astra’s target location was somewhat above where the stars were set.
VIPER
Viper’s Controller/Sentinel role on the lineup is one that we particularly enjoy. Due to recent map updates and her buffs, she is now an indispensable Controller and the greatest Sentinel in her class in much more scenarios than a dual-role Agent should be. Our goal is to give clearer counterplay and assault windows for Viper’s foes by making the following improvements to the game’s mechanics.
Fuel
When Toxic Screen and Poison Cloud are both active, the fuel drain increases by 50%.
Whenever Viper’s fuel level drops below a certain threshold, her bar turns red.
A Harmful Screen
The deactivation cooldown is now six seconds longer. >>> 8
When her smoke begins to dissipate, rather than when the deactivation telegraph plays, the cooldown countdown begins.
Deactivation time was reduced by 1 >>>…
8
During a cooldown, Toxic Screen now includes yellow lights that indicate
When Viper is silenced, Toxic Screen is disabled immediately.
Suppressed her smoke, which activates a special VO line.
Clouds of Poisoned Gas
Deactivation cooldown is now six seconds longer. >>> 8.
When her smoke begins to dissipate, rather than when the deactivation telegraph plays, the cooldown countdown begins.
Deactivation time was reduced by 1 >>>…
8
You can tell when Poison Orb is on cooldown by looking at the color of the yellow light that lights up.
During Viper suppression, Poison Orb’s disabling delay has been removed.
When her smoke is suppressed, a special VO line plays.
Bite from a snake
6.5 minutes were shaved off 5.5 \sYoru
Fakeout
Charges decreased from 2 to 150 for 1 Decoy HP.
It is now possible to send Decoy running forward, but just in that direction.
To install a decoy marker, right-click and select “Stay.”
Create a decoy that runs forward by reactivating footsteps in the same way.
If an opposing gun hits it, the decoy winds up, turns toward the opponent, then explodes when some time has passed.
Within the cone, all enemies are flashed.
Gatecrash
Charges went up from one to two.
Credits required (200)
The recharge of the cooldown charge has been abolished, and the 2-kill reset has been restored.
Pressing F while hovering over the beacon will cause a gatecrash to be feigned.
Fake teleport will sound like Yoru is attempting to teleport, and the visuals will look like a gateway.
As of this writing, teleport beacon response time has down by 1.5 seconds.
The in-game audio of the Teleport Beacon while traveling has been lowered by 22.5m>>12.5m.
Increased teleport beacon speed from 675 to 800
The beacon creates a little decal on the floor for 30 seconds after triggering a false teleport to signal the location of the fake teleport.
Distortion of Space-Time
The length of time has risen by 8 seconds to 10 seconds.
Enemies are not given access to Yoru.
The time it takes to disassemble equipment has increased by 0.6 >>> 1.2 seconds.
It is now possible for Yoru to completely remove any and all utility from his ultimate weapon.
In the last 15 meters, one can hear the footfall of Yoru who is currently 15 meters away from where the sound is coming from.
When Dimensional Drift is cast, a delay is inserted to prevent the invulnerability frame from being activated.
