The Summer You Were There

On Wednesday, Seven Seas Entertainment announced that it had acquired the manga rights to The Summer You Were There, Candy & Cigarettes, and Yokai Cats.

The Summer You Were There (Kimi to Tsuzuru Utakata), a manga by Yuma, will have its debut volume released by Seven Seas in September 2022. The business offers this description of yuri manga:

Shy and reserved, Shizuku rarely engages in conversation with her peers. Rather, she escapes into her imagination by creating a novel she has no intention of sharing. Kaori, Shizuku’s cute and popular classmate, gets a hold of Shizuku’s manuscript, and suddenly everything shifts.

Kaori is a rabid supporter and thinks dating Shizuku would be good for her creativity. How successful would it be for these two very different young women to write their own love stories?
In May 2020, Yuama debuted the manga in Comic Yuri Hime, a magazine published by Ichijinsha. On June 17, Ichijinsha released the second collected volume of the manga.

Also, on January 11th, Seven Seas will issue a single omnibus volume of Yuama’s The Girl I Want Is So Handsome! (Ikemen Sugi Desu Shiki-senpai!) manga. The comic was first published by Yuma in Comic Yuri Hime in 2018, then in October of 2019 Ichijinsha released the second and final volume of the collected manga.

In August of 2022, Seven Seas will release the first volume of Candy & Cigarettes by Tomonori Inoue. According to the publisher, this manga is an “action-packed, neo-noir revenge thriller.”

Hiraga Raizou, a former cop, is in for a harsh awakening when he accepts a lucrative job with the government’s secretive SS Agency. His first day on the job is marred by the discovery of a brutal murder and a lonely little girl who is everything but innocent. She is the master assassin Suzukaze Miharu, yet she is just eleven years old. She makes the killing, and he takes care of the cleanup and covering up the crime scene. The money’s fantastic, but is Raizou ready to risk getting his hands dirty to make a buck?

Inoue debuted the manga in January 2017 issue #3 of Kodansha’s Young Magazine. After April 2021’s final issue of Young Magazine the 3rd, Kodansha shifted the manga to the “renewed” Monthly Young Magazine. The manga concluded in July, and on November 18 Kodansha released the eleventh and final volume.

Coppelion, which Inoue began serializing in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine in 2008, later transferred to the magazine’s Monthly Young counterpart in 2012. Inoue concluded his manga in the magazine in February of 2016. The manga has been released digitally in English by Crunchyroll, and in Japanese by Kodansha Comics (all 26 volumes).

In 2013, an anime television adaptation of a science fiction military action series debuted. The anime was first made available on Viz Media’s streaming service and then published on home video.

The first volume of Pandania’s Yokai Cats manga will be published in full color by Seven Seas in August 2022. The business gives a synopsis of the manga:

What if the cats you keep as pets are yokai or otherworldly beings? These Yokai Cats are even cuter and naughtier than normal felines, with a neck that can lengthen to take food off the counter or the ability to morph into a giant wall that blocks your way. In this manga series, everyone in the family may sit back and be startled and pleased by the antics of some very “spirited” cats.

The manga was first published by Pandaria in the November 2016 issue of Takeshobo’s Manga Life Original magazine. On August 17th, Takeshobo released volume six of the manga.
