Since its inception in 2011, the brand has dominated the video game market and has even made its way into the likes of Netflix with the Story Mode point-and-click Telltale game.
The final hurdle was always expected to be the big screen, with whispers of enormous Hollywood blockbusters being disseminated on social media for nearly six years.

COUNTLESS PROBLEMS FOR THE MINECRAFT MOVIE
In March 2014, Notch tweeted that someone was “trying to leak the news that we’re working with Warner Brothers on a prospective Minecraft Movie.”
Even CaptainSparklez, who asked if he could offer some voice-over work for the movie project after seeing the Tweet, understandable went popular on social media.
Mojang COO Vu Bui told The Guardian that the film was in its “early phases of development” and that it was a “large-budget production” later that year.
‘Minecraft: The Movie’ was revealed by Mojang Studios in June 2016 and will launch on May 24th, 2019. However, this first release date was pushed out in August 2018 following the departure of director Rob McElhenney and writer Jason Fuchs.
Minecraft’s storyline: After that, it was revealed that the movie would center on a brand-new female character from the world of Minecraft:
‘The plot follows a group of unusual adventurers who must stop the evil Ender Dragon from destroying their beautiful, blocky Overworld,’ says the press release. For Minecraft: The Movie, Variety has a planned synopsis of the film’s plot.
Finally, in April 2019, the Minecraft Twitter feed revealed that a theatrical release date of March 4th, 2022 was set for the film.

THE MINECRAFT MOVIE RELEASE DATE
Because of numerous production challenges and delays, the Minecraft movie had only just begun to gain traction in theatres when it was canceled. Then came the outbreak of the pandemic.
Some of Warner Brothers’ planned releases were put on hold as the entertainment business went into freefall as networks scrambled to change their release dates.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed in October 2020, much to the dismay of many fans, that “the video game adaption Minecraft is abandoning its March 4, 2022, date and is currently undated.”
After hearing that Minecraft: The Movie had been postponed indefinitely 17 months ago, this was the last we’d heard about its development.
However, while some fans are still hoping for a surprise announcement on the film’s debut date this year, others understand that it is time to let the live-action fantasy die.
EVERYTHING WE KNOW ABOUT THE NEXT GAME UPDATE
Patch 1.19, named “The Wild,” will be released for the Java edition of the popular sandbox video game.
When it’s released in October 2021, “the deep dark biome, the Mangrove swamp biome, and many diverse forms of wildlife and flora to the Overworld” will be “added to the ambiance and immersion of the game with a handful of new creatures and features.”
Update 1.19’s release date has not yet been announced, although it is expected to come in 2022.
Based on recent upgrades to the Java version of Minecraft, Beebom believes that the game will be released in June 2022.
Minecraft: The Movie may be postponed indefinitely, but a new update is on the way that will no doubt give long-time players of the game goosebumps.
