Unfortunately, the most recent patch included a fault that causes Nintendo Switch Sports to frequently crash, therefore the servers are presently down.

Earlier this week, Nintendo of America’s Twitter account informed users that servers will be temporarily shut down while a problem with Nintendo Switch Sports was investigated.

There’s a flaw in the latest version of Nintendo Switch Sports (Version 1.2.1), and it closes the app while it’s loading the match’s preliminary data, as the tweet puts it. “This is an issue for both online and offline play. This upgrade will not be released at this time.”

Nintendo elaborated in a subsequent tweet “As we look into the issue, the Nintendo Switch Sports servers will be taken down momentarily, thus online play will be unavailable.

The saving of data has also been momentarily halted. Please accept our deepest condolences for the trouble this has caused.”

The fault was first reported by Nintendo on October 14, and since then, the company has not offered any information about when the servers would be restored or how things are proceeding.

In the summer, for example, Switch Sports updated the game with new volleyball skills, leg strap support for football matches, and an S Rank and Infinity Rank in Pro League, among other features.

The reviewers at VG247 had a positive impression of Nintendo Switch Sports, awarding it four out of five stars, saying: “It’s clear that Nintendo missed an opportunity to innovate and include more fresh features.

On the contrary, Nintendo Switch Sports is essentially my dream game. It seems like it could be one of the best games of the year for me. The Nintendo Switch has that special something.”

Nintendo took the opportunity in May to clarify the explanation behind the delay between the release of the original Wii Sports and Switch Sports, which was a bit of a surprise to fans.
