Gameplay
Micah, like the protagonists of past Rune Factory games, is a boy at the game’s outset. Shara tends to him while he is in his golden Wooly form. Farming, fishing, gathering materials, dungeon adventuring, and battle are the core tenets of Rune Factory 3:
A Fantasy Harvest Moon. Later in the game, Micah gains the ability to manufacture his armor and accessories, forge weapons and equipment, create his medicines and chemicals, and tame and use monsters.
New dynamic AI, the option to morph into a Wooly, inviting villagers to tag along with Micah, and an improved battle system are all part of Rune Factory 3: A Fantasy Harvest Moon. The user can now invite their pals to join them in dungeon delving thanks to the game’s new cooperative multiplayer feature.
Plot
A golden woolly falls from the sky at the start of the game and lands asleep in front of a flower shop. An unnamed child, subsequently identified as Shara, carries the woolly inside and takes care of it, much to her grandfather’s chagrin. The next morning, the woolly suddenly changes into a boy and runs out of the flower shop in a panic, with no concept of who he is or how he got there.
When he runs outside, he finds a shy girl, later identified as Raven, waiting at the base of the stairs leading up the massive Sharance Tree. A conversation between the boy and Raven ends as she abruptly withdraws. But Shara comes along and stops the two of them. When Shara meets the boy, he learns for the first time that he has amnesia.
He decides to call himself Micah, and Shara has Raven take him to the Sharance Tree so she can talk to the tree itself. Raven agrees with his request by taking him directly to the tree house, from which he plans to depart. As she is about to leave, Shara again unexpectedly enters the room to interrupt her and announce that Micah will be moving into the tree house.
At first hesitant, Micah is compelled to move in after being reminded of his forgetfulness. Shara then shows him around the entire house. When the trio visits the tree’s roots, Shara explains that it’s the only area in town where crops can genuinely grow. Micah has to quickly dispatch an Orc that has turned hostile to save the lives of the two girls.
Shara explains that because the town’s weapons and tools are infused with magic, vanquished monsters aren’t slain but instead returned to the Forest of Beginnings. Two additional monstrosities, however, appear out of nowhere and begin attacking. Fortunately, Raven went to get Gaius, and when he returned, he threw a weapon at Micah, and he was able to fight them.
Shara says the local monsters are harmless and the village has never had any encounters with them. In recent times, though, there have been reports of a band of monstrously vicious creatures attacking locals. When Shara asks Micah to arrange a town meeting so she can send something to everyone, he agrees. Once he’s through with this mission, he’ll proceed to Provera Forest to take on a thieving raccoon.
After Micah defeats the raccoon, he comes across a memory orb that, when touched, brings back some of his lost memories. He recalls his heritage and culture and is pleased to learn that he can change into a golden woolly. He makes up his mind at this point to keep his power to morph a secret and sets out to acquire additional memory orbs.
After that, he travels to the Sol Terrano Desert, where he meets the Univar, a sentient race. Micah finds out that the universe and humans used to get along fine, but the humans drove the universe out of their territory and ever since then, there has been animosity between the two races. Micah’s ability to change into a woolly helped him win over the village’s wise leader, Kuruna, and his people.
Almost immediately, the Skelefang attack the village, but Micah can fend them off. After discovering his past life as a town guard, he acquires the next orb and continues his search for the others. Moving on with his journey, he arrives in Oddward Valley. Micah learns that a lion has been taking food after consulting with Sakuya, Blaise, and Carmen.
Micah finds that he was pursuing five escaped monsters that came to share, and that one more is still in Vale River when he defeats the lions Crimson and Amaranthine and gets the third memory orb. Micah crosses the river, and then he hears a voice laughing from various points on the other side.
The Death Wall, he learns quickly, is the source of this sound. Ultimately, Micah prevails over the Death Wall and retrieves the final memory orb, which reveals that the Sharance Tree must bloom.
He goes to Wells for advice because he can’t figure out what to do, and Wells points the finger at the universe. Micah learns from Ondorus that he must come clean about his monster ancestry if he ever hopes to bring the races together. Despite initial resistance from both groups, the Unity Festival ultimately serves as a unifying force for the two races.
The blossoms on the tree will begin to bud now, but they won’t open fully until Micah’s wedding. Micah finally settles on a bride, only to have her disappear on their wedding day. Conversations lead him to learn that she was abducted and transported to the Dragon Cave.
Micah finds four statues of earlier bosses inside the Dragon Cave. When he has finished feeding the statues, he will enter a spring where the four orbs will be placed on four pillars. At one point, he notices the water is clear and chooses to take the plunge. Inside, he finds his future wife crying; however, she will soon vanish, and in her stead will arise a water dragon named Aquaticus.
As far as Aquaticus is concerned, Micah doesn’t belong here and the Univir and Humans should never have been united. Micah stays and fights Aquaticus instead of escaping. Micah can return home to his family after vanquishing the antagonist. Aquaticus reemerges after a brief exchange to explain his terrible actions and express regret for them.
Then he gives Micah the option of returning to his native country or remaining in Share, to which Micah responds by declaring that the latter is now his permanent residence. Without the flowers blooming, Aquaticus says, the land will wither and die.
The only way to make the flowers blossom is for the village guardian to be married when the universe and humans are united. After they finish talking, Aquaticus leaves because he has achieved his mission, and Micah takes his beloved out of the cave so that they can get married. Afterward, a credit sequence occurs.
You’ll have a wife who lives with you and makes you lunch every day after the credits, but she’ll still go about her daily routine.
