Peter Tobin’s Body Was Burned, and the Ashes Were Dumped at Sea

The murderer of Angelika Kluk, Vicky Hamilton, and Dinah McNicol was taken ill at Edinburgh’s Saughton Prison on Saturday, October 8, and later died there.

In 2006, he was found guilty of raping and killing Angelika, a 23-year-old Polish student, and then hiding her body under the floor of a church in Glasgow.

The Edinburgh Royal Infirmary recorded Tobin’s death at 5:35 a.m. on October 8, 2022; his last known residence was Saughton prison. A sergeant at Edinburgh’s Gayfield Police Station recorded the information.

Without a specific cause of death listed, it was widely assumed that he had been diagnosed with cancer in 2019. The cause is marked as “unascertained” on the certificate, but it is noted that an inquiry will be conducted at a later date.

The official line from Edinburgh City Council is as follows: “The remains of Peter Tobin were cremated in accordance with the requirements of Section 87 of the Burials and Cremations (Scotland) Act 2016.

The ashes were scattered at sea after the funeral. The Council’s sympathies go out to the victims and their families of his atrocities.

The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh reported the death of a 76-year-old man at 6:04 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022, and police were sent to the scene. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal, although “the death is not being viewed as suspicious.”
