Wife of late Slipknot bassist Paul Gray testified last week against the musician’s former doctor, Daniel Baldi, recalling her husband’s bleak final days.
The Des Moines Register reports that the doctor is on trial for involuntary manslaughter related to the overdose deaths of Gray and eight others caused by improperly filled medications. Brenna Gray testified that neither Baldi nor the rest of the band helped her approach the bassist about his history of drug abuse before his death. Check this Justin Schmidt Cause Of Death.
Paul, who along with Joey Jordison and Shawn Crahan formed Slipknot in 1995, was discovered dead in an Urbandale, Iowa hotel room in May of 2010.
He was 38 years old. After his death, an autopsy determined that he had taken an overdose of morphine and fentanyl, a synthetic opiate that mimics the effects of morphine.
“The week before Paul went away was the first time I saw a needle in my house,” she reflected. This was the first sighting of one in years. Needles had been thrown away when I moved in. When I last saw them was the last time they visited our home. I suspected needles and warned [the doctor]. Check this Gary Rossington Funeral.
When he looked at Paul’s hands, he saw the scarring from the repeated use of intravenous narcotics. He made sure his arms were okay. Not once had he looked down at his feet. She revealed that she was the one who proposed having his feet examined.
In a report to Brenna, the doctor said that Gray had passed his drug test and that the bassist had taken one at each of his medical checkups.
She learned that even after his death, he continued to test positive and that Baldi had been prescribing the anti-anxiety medicine Xanax despite his history of abusing it.
Brenna also mentioned that Paul had Xanax and Suboxone (used to treat opiate addiction) refills while traveling. Brenna claimed that in the weeks and months leading up to Paul’s death, he tapered off his Xanax use.
