Activities for Ontario Independence Day

Ontario Fireworks 2022

Ontario Fireworks 2022

On Monday, July 4, 2022, the Ontario Recreation & Community Services Department will host several family-friendly events to celebrate Independence Day.

Contents

Independence Day Parade

Start your morning with the annual Fourth of July Parade, which starts at 9:00 AM and runs from Fourth Street to B Street along the southbound side of Euclid Avenue. Enjoy everything red, white, and blue with your family, friends, canine companions, and neighbourhood neighbours. There will be more than 80 entries in the parade this year, including floats, marching bands, and neighbourhood associations.

Bold Stripes, Bright Stars, and Brave Hearts are the theme for this year. We honour our heroic, American brothers and sisters from the past and today by using vibrant patriotic colours and symbols.

The All-States Picnic will take place after the Independence Day Parade. Since 1916, when the initial concept was hatched at an annual chamber of commerce dinner when guests sat in groups according to the states where they were raised, this yearly event has been a tradition in Ontario.

The World’s Longest Picnic Table was the site of the All-States Picnic, a traditional Fourth of July gathering of thousands of picnickers along Ontario’s famed Euclid Avenue. People from every state would gather to rekindle and form new friendships at the two miles of tables that would be set up on the Euclid Avenue median. Today, Ontario is dedicated to maintaining this ancient custom by continuing to place picnic tables and flags for each state along Euclid Avenue. Join us for this historical celebration and don’t forget to pack a picnic.

A concert with patriotic music performed by the Ontario/Chaffey Community Show Band will take place at around 10:30 AM after the Independence Day Parade. At 224 N. Euclid Avenue, Ontario Town Square will host this free concert.

Be aware that there will be a street closure on Euclid Avenue between Sixth Street and Holt Boulevard starting around 4:00 AM and lasting until about noon.

Fireworks Spectacular

End your evening with the Recreation & Community Services Department at Westwind Park, situated at 2455 E. Riverside Drive, for extra free family activities and the yearly Fireworks Spectacular while you take a breather from the morning celebrations and spend time with friends and family.

The Ontario Police Department parking lot, which is situated at 2500 S. Archibald Avenue, offers free parking as well as shuttle services to Westwind Park. The entire evening will be covered by shuttles.

At 5:00 PM, Westwind Park’s gates will open. Starting at 6:00 PM, live music will be provided by the band Liquid Blue for the entire evening. There will also be carnival games, food stands, photo ops, and an obstacle course in the ninja manner. At around 9:00 PM, the Fireworks Spectacular show will start and last for roughly twenty minutes.

As a reminder, it is illegal to possess or use fireworks anywhere in the City of Ontario. The City of Ontario welcomes all residents to attend the free fireworks display at Westwind Park for everyone to celebrate the Fourth of July safely.

Please be aware that at 3:00 PM, Riverside Drive between Vineyard Avenue and Archibald Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic.
