New Amsterdam is an American medical series created by David Schulner. It was based on Eric Manheimer’s book Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital.
On September 25, 2018, NBC aired the first season of the series, and the second season will air on September 24, 2019. In 2021, the third and fourth seasons of “The Walking Dead” were released on March 2 and September 21 of the same year, respectively. After the fourth season was completed in March 2022, the show was renewed for a fifth season.

New Amsterdam Season 5 Release Date
On May 24th, 2022, there are only two remaining episodes in Season 4. So, based on this information, the fifth season is expected to be released either at year’s end or in early 2019.
It has been confirmed that there will be 13 episodes in the upcoming season. Any additional information that comes to light in the coming months is subject to change.
New Amsterdam Season 5 Plot and Cast
The fifth season of New Amsterdam on NBC will be its final one, and the show will be canceled. Deadline has confirmed that the medical drama will be ending after the remaining 13 episodes of its fourth season, which just concluded. Lisa Katz, the network’s president of scripted programming, recently stated:
I was moved to tears when I read about Max Goodwin and his unwavering dedication to the New Amsterdam patients. Thanks to Sumi Deka David Schulner, [executive producer] Peter Horton, and the cast and crew for their incredible dedication, talent, and collaboration.”
Erin Underhill, president of Universal Television, also had a few words to say in light of this news:
We had a winner in New Amsterdam’s pilot script the first time I read it. When Max asked his patients, ‘How can I help?’ we cheered and applauded him for disrupting the status quo.
This show’s incredible cast and creators have taken on challenging and thought-provoking material while also entertaining and instilling hope in us throughout the last four seasons.” Thank you to everyone who helped bring New Amsterdam to life. We couldn’t have done it without you. Bravo!”
When it comes to the cast, Ryan Eggold plays Dr. Max Goodwin, Janet Montgomery plays Dr. Lauren Bloom, Freema Agyeman plays Dr. Helen Sharpe, Jocko Sims plays Dr. Floyd Reynolds, and Tyler Labine portrays Dr. Ignatius Frome.
Dr. Vijay Kapoor, Alejandro Hernandez, Em Grosland, Brunstetter, Debra Monk, and Christine Chang will also be featured in the series.
