Medieval Dynasty Multiplayer

Medieval Dynasty is now out on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It was made by Toplitz Productions (also available via Xbox Game Pass).

This console version is based on the huge success of the PC version, which came out in 2021 and has a “very positive” user rating on Steam right now.

Medieval Dynasty was made by the Polish studio Render Cube. It puts players in a huge sandbox where they have to hunt and build to stay alive.

But unlike a lot of games in this popular genre, the focus is on single-player as you explore the story, build relationships with characters, and manage the growing number of villagers and workers who join your settlement.

There are some similarities between this game and Skyrim and Kingdom Come: Deliverance, but you won’t be fighting enemies or leading armies.

Starting with just a few simple items, you’ll have to piece together a few primitive tools before building your home base. From there, you’ll be able to do a lot of different things, like hunt animals, gather resources, and make things that you can use to improve your settlement or sell to local merchants.

First Impressions

Medieval Dynasty is, to say the least, slow to get going. Even though you have to deal with the changing seasons, hunger, thirst, and your settlers’ needs, it can also be very relaxing. Just as satisfying is the fact that you have a lot of control over how your town is built and what goes where and who does what.

The game’s tutorial quests do a good job of getting you used to it, which is a good thing given how complicated it can get if you let it. You’ll get new skills and recipes quickly, but the growth of your settlement will also depend on how well you manage the people who live there using menus that were made for PC players.

For players who don’t have a lot of time, there are cheat-like options like getting more experience and not having to worry about inventory limits. Fans of simulation games can, of course, ignore these.

You talk to plain-looking NPCs and bring them the odd item here and there. The quests and story aren’t very interesting. Some of the building and gathering of resources can also be tedious, but it’s exciting to see your wooden hut turn into a clockwork city bit by bit.

Even though Medieval Dynasty is a good start, developer Render Cube could make it better by adding threats other than wild animals and adding online multiplayer.
