After Leslie Jordan was killed in a car accident on Monday in Hollywood, the coroner’s office in Los Angeles County designated the cause of death as “delayed” until an additional investigation could be conducted.

The medical examiner was unable to pinpoint the cause of death during Tuesday’s autopsy and has now requested further research and/or tests. It was unclear whether Jordan had died in the crash or had a medical problem in the automobile, so an autopsy was scheduled.

This week, the well-known performer was killed instantly when his BMW collided with a building near the intersection of Cahuenga Boulevard and Romaine Street.

He was 67. Investigators are still trying to identify what killed Jordan, but they say witnesses at the site speculated that he had a heart attack just before the collision.

Jordan was apparently on his way to filming of his network sitcom “Call Me Kat” when he crashed. On Wednesday, TMZ said that the actor and comedian Jordan’s coworkers became concerned when he didn’t arrive at work until more than an hour after his call time.

According to reports, production staff sought to track down Jordan until they learned he had been in a car crash.

Jordan, Mayim Bialik, Swoosie Kurtz, Kyla Pratt, Julian Gant, Cheyenne Jackson, and Christopher Rivas are among the cast of “Call Me Kat,” which airs on Fox. As Phil, head baker at the eponymous cat café, Jordan played the lead role.

On Wednesday, neither Jordan nor Fox’s representatives returned messages seeking comment.

The cast and crew of “Call Me Kat” released a statement to The Times on Monday, remembering Jordan as “gentle, intelligent, wicked, and hilarious.”

The show’s producers released a statement saying, “We got to know and love him at the height of his happiness and joy and it is inconceivable to imagine a world without our Leslie:

the man who would spit on his contact lenses before putting them in his eyes, the man who had a story about every man in Hollywood and some of the women as well, the man who lived to make people laugh.”

Jordan was well-known for his roles in numerous films and television shows, including “Will & Grace,” “American Horror Story,” and “Call Me Kat.”
