The Appearance of Kirito
Real World / Sword Art Online Avatar
At the start of the game and during beta testing, Kirito’s avatar appeared to be an attractive antagonist who was significantly older than he was. He used the “Hand Mirror” that Kayaba Akihiko gave to everyone so that his avatar would more accurately represent his actual appearance. He’s smoking hot, man.
Kirito is a young man with somewhat long, neat black hair and black eyes. His face is so soft and feminine that he is sometimes mistaken for a woman.
Since he often wears black after the early stages, he is known throughout SAO as the “Black Swordsman” (Kuro no Kenshi?). After using his Dual Blades Sword Skill, he wields two blades: a black “Elucidator” and a white “Dark Repulser.” He had a public duel with Knights of the Blood leader Heathcliff and lost. Afterward, he joined the organization and wore the red and white uniform of the Knights of the Blood.
Out in the real world, he prefers wearing dark colors.

Because of the black-themed equipment of the Spriggan race, Kirito decided to adopt that appearance at the outset. His jet-black hair, rather than hanging in forelocks like other men, stood on end in spikes. His dark greyish blue wings contrasted sharply with his big, seemingly devilish eyes. At Mother’s Rosario, he wears his hair down instead of in spikes. He’s armed with a massive broadsword fit for “Imps” or other large players. Now and again, he’ll use his SAO training to switch to dual wielding.
His disheveled hair is still down after being converted back from his brief sojourn in Gun Gale Online, but his wicked black eyes have been updated. He also trades in his broadsword for a longsword and is given a new coat.
His dual-wielding weapon, the “Holy Sword Excaliber,” which he acquires in late December 2025.
Gun Gale Online Avatar
Kirito plays GGO as a rare “M9000” type, an avatar that many male gamers aspire to have one day. His dark hair is untampered with and falls easily to his shoulders. His lips are bright red, and his otherwise pale face is framed by thick, dark lashes. You might mistake him for a woman if you didn’t know better. This throws Sinon for a loop, as he assists him in thinking he is a woman, only to discover in the locker room that he is a man.
He carries a 5.7mm FN Five Seven handgun and a “Kagemitsu G4” photon sword.
The Appearance of Asuna
Asuna is a beautiful woman with long, chestnut hair that is somewhat orange in tone and hazel eyes. She donned a hooded cape, leather pants with knee-high boots, and a copper breastplate over a dark red leather tunic in the earliest levels of SAO. She donned the traditional red and white garb of the Knights of the Blood (KoB) and carried the “Lambent Light,” a rapier forged by Lisbeth. Asuna now wears the promise ring on her left ring finger, which Kazuto had given her after the Ordinal Scale Incident.
Asuna’s chestnut hair and light brown eyes are carried over into her guise as Stacia, the Goddess of Creativity. She is decked out with a long skirt made from innumerable beautiful fabrics and a gleaming white breastplate.
ALfheim Online
Titania, queen of the fairies, was Asuna’s first choice for her online persona in ALfheim Online. She sported an all-white ensemble that featured a long white skirt, a crop top that exposed her tummy, and a red ribbon that wrapped around the top of her top and tied in a bow.
She wore nothing on her feet except a thin white band around each of her ankles.
Asuna’s appearance in Undine is nearly identical to that of her SAO avatar, save for the fact that her hair is a pale blue instead of blonde.
Erika, Asuna’s Sylph avatar, is better equipped for duels than Asuna’s primary avatar, a half-healer because she is specialized in close combat and has most of her ability points committed to dagger skills.
