Kamisama Kiss, a Japanese manga series by Julietta Suzuki, is published and created by her. Based on the manga, the animated series was launched in 2012. When we first meet Nanami Momozono in Kamisama Kiss, she is just another high school student. Because her ex-boyfriend won’t pay her rent, she’s having a hard time finding a job and making ends meet. So, she packs everything and heads to the park down the block when she finds herself in a bind again. She comes upon a strange man who is being terrorized by a dog.
He informs her right away that he will be unable to complete the task. As soon as Nanami has helped him, the two begin talking, and he learns of Nanami’s horrible predicament. As a thank you, he gives her a house and takes her to a shrine. To Nanami’s astonishment, the guy in question turned out to be an earth deity.
