The actor from Mythic Quest and the star of Hacks have now been together for more than ten years and have enjoyed many tender moments.
They have experienced ups and downs. During a joint appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in August 2022, McElhenney said to Olson, “And I can tell you that I love you more now than I did 14 years ago. As hard as it is sometimes, just like in any relationship, I will keep showing up and doing my best because I love you so much.”

In the end, McElhenney chose Olson to play Dee Reynolds, a failing actress who waits tables at the Irish pub where the drama is set. August 2005 saw the first season air on FX, and soon Olson started to feel a same way about McElhenney.
As Olson later admitted, she was the one who initiated the flirtation with her husband, or at least she tried to. She made the decision to move during a game night at the home of Charlie Day and Mary Elizabeth Ellis, another pair of the show’s costars. He was present, and she acknowledged that she had been drinking since it was how she dealt with her anxiety around him.
