Seahawks Pete Carroll His Address Report That Russell Wilson Wanted Them Fired.
INDIANA— On Tuesday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider took the high road after The Athletic reported last week that quarterback Russell Wilson had asked owner Jody Allen to fire them after the 2021 season.
Schneider calls it “water under the bridge.” Carroll and Schneider didn’t reject the claim during their NFL combine media interviews.
The Athletic said that days following the request, the Seahawks chose to trade Wilson, which led to the March 2022 trade to Denver for three players and five draught picks, including first-rounders in 2022 and 2023. After the deal, Allen claimed Wilson “made it obvious he wanted this change.”
“There’s nothing I’m commenting about it but to say that things get said, it’s always been said for years, and guys come and go with their ideas and their feelings and all that, and I ain’t bothered about it,” Carroll said Tuesday when asked if the claim was real.
Schneider responded to the report with, “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” then smiled and said, “I’m kidding. Joke.” “Honesty, like water under the bridge,” he said.
Wilson, though, denied requesting their dismissal on Friday, tweeting, “I never wanted them fired…” I’ll always respect them and adore Seattle.” Carroll and Schneider both expressed a desire to reintegrate Wilson into the Seahawks.
Schneider mentioned Marshawn Lynch’s 2016 retirement. Lynch played for the Raiders again a year later before retiring with Seattle in 2019. Must read this article Wiz Khalifa Net Worth.
Schneider stated, “We’re proud of our culture. “Players when they play for us, leave, and then come back at a particular period, like, you know, I wouldn’t have told you that Marshawn would have come back and played for us. You kind of believe it now. You listen to folks who play for other teams and their experiences. They know that when they return, they’ll always be part of our family.”
Carroll said, “My response to that is a similar response that it’s always been with, with the men that I’ve coached, that I’m always going to hang with them, I’m never going to leave ’em, and I’ll be there at the end of all of the good stuff and all of the terrible stuff. I’ll stay. That’s it, right? Hanging. Check this Christian Horner Net Worth.
And it doesn’t matter who the guy is—if you look at all of the guys that have come to our program, just not going back to the college days [at USC], but just here in Seattle, regardless of what has happened, taken place, or been said and all, if you hang with them it all comes back around, and I’d like to demonstrate that faith in the relationship and the depth of what we did together, and hang through whatever the growth challenges bring to us.
They were also asked if Wilson’s failures in Denver’s first season surprised them. Schneider said, “Sure.” Carroll projected a comeback.
Carroll said it was a huge challenge. “There’s never been a guy more strong-minded, determined, convicted, and all that. He emerged this way. It was a tough year. I’m not concerned about him discovering it. Returning.”
