James Gunn married the actress Jennifer Holland after dating her for almost seven years. The Guardians of the Galaxy director announced that he and the Peacemaker actress had tied the knot in Aspen, Colorado, in front of family and friends. Beautiful wedding photos even had an unexpected guest: a moose. Images and video posted by Gunn showed a moose waiting in the shadows as the ceremony got underway.
Gunn eventually revealed that the moose-friendly wedding took place at Dunbar Ranch. The director wrote, “For those who don’t know, moose are the most dangerous wild mammals in North America. But the big dude just wandered by. @MatthewLillard yelled out, ‘It’s James’ Dad!'”

According to The Direct, James Gunn defended his wife’s casting in the DC Universe’s movies. A fan who demanded that DC Studios CEO James Gunn “stop placing his wife in every DC production” was met with a response from Gunn. The director has been engaged to Emilia Harcourt’s Jennifer Holland since 2015 and they planned to tie the knot in September 2022.

Gunn made it clear that The Suicide Squad was the only DC production in which his wife has appeared, though she did make a return appearance in Gunn’s Peacemaker HBO Mini series. The only other time she appeared on the big screen for DC Comics was in Black Adam, which he claimed he “had nothing to do with the casting of.”
“The only DC movie I’ve ever cast my wife in was #TheSuicideSquad. I had nothing to do with the casting of any other movie – anything else was shot a year or so ago while I was deep in ‘Vol 3.’ But I know some of you are deeply in need of reasons to hate.”
Holland has made multiple appearances in Gunn’s works, including the 2019 superhero horror thriller Brightburn, which Gunn produced with a screenplay written by his cousin Mark Gunn and brother Brian Gunn.

Jennifer Holland’s portrayal of Emilia Harcourt seems to be one of the few that will survive James Gunn’s planned reboot of the DC Universe, and no, it’s not because they’re married. Gunn has already confirmed that “members of Team Peacemaker” will return in Waller, and it’s safe to assume that Harcourt will be one among them. While Gunn is busy on Superman: Legacy, it appears like production on Season 2 of Peacemaker is continuing nevertheless.
Several viewers were upset that Henry Cavill’s Superman was left behind while Gunn’s own characters from The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker were kept going. Some people have said that this shows that the boss of DC Studios is biased because he is picking favourites for the reboot.
It makes perfect sense to keep around people Gunn brought in, as he was hired to establish his vision for the DCU and the characters it will explore. After all, Gunn decided to scrap Cavill’s Superman because he didn’t see him in line with his vision for the role, but it’s clear that the actors he ultimately cast will do a great job representing that vision.
