Both Superman and the Hulk are formidable figures in their comic book universes, but they are particularly strong when compared to other heroes. Who, though, would win if the two definitive versions of Superman and the Jade Giant squared off? There is a clear victory between the two superheroes based on their powers, previous comic book battles, and fighting tendencies.
There aren’t many heroes in DC or Marvel Comics who can match up with Superman. Kryptonians have few vulnerabilities and are only vulnerable to kryptonite and magic. His abilities as a superhero, meanwhile, are truly astounding.
Superman gets his superpowers from the yellow sun that shines on Earth, and he can lift over 20 quintillion tonnes with a single hand. In addition, he possesses a wide variety of extraordinary abilities that rank him among the most formidable heroes. Superman can fly faster than a speeding bullet, see through walls of heat and x-ray, and breathe fire. Because of his immense strength, he has also shifted planets all by himself.
Unlike Superman, who can do a wide variety of things with his powers, the Hulk is limited to his incredible strength. Hulk’s strength grows exponentially with his rage, and there’s no cap on how high he can go. The fact that Hulk gets stronger the more hits he takes in battle is what makes him truly incredible. As a battle wears on, he only grows in strength. Planets have been kept from disintegrating by the Hulk’s mighty strength.
And as was just discovered, a gamma mutate’s body is nearly impossible to keep cold. Superman has a slight advantage over Hulk right off the bat because he has access to his full arsenal of powers from the get-go.
When the two universes collide, they often end up in a fight. During the epic battle depicted in Roger Stern, Steve Rude, and Al Milgrom’s The Incredible Hulk vs. Superman, the two heroes throw down some serious haymakers. Superman defeats the Hulk with the help of his speed and other abilities before teaming up with the Hulk to take on Lex Luthor.
Ron Marz, Peter David, Dan Jurgens, and Claudio Castellini’s DC vs. Marvel crossover pits the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes from each universe against one another in a fight to the finish. Fan votes determine the winner of that fight, and Superman knocked out the Hulk with a single, devastating punch.
With his immense strength and incredible durability, the Hulk almost always wins when pitted against other powerful opponents. But when up against Superman, he has no chance. Although Hulk’s strength is comparable to that of Superman, the Man of Steel has a significant advantage due to his other abilities. The Hulk would have a hard time keeping up with Superman due to the latter’s superior strength, durability, ability to withstand even the most devastating blows, variety of attacks (not just punching), and speed. The green monster has never beaten Superman in any of their previous encounters.
Nothing against the Hulk, but there’s a reason that Superman has that moniker. In most cases, the DC Hero would be able to defeat the Hulk, despite the latter’s best efforts, unless the Hulk were armed with kryptonite or accompanied by a magic user. When all is said and done, Superman always comes out on top.
