The legendary host of “Wheel of Fortune,” Pat Sajak, announced his retirement from the show on Monday, after a record-breaking 41 years at the helm of one of the longest-running game shows in the history of American television, as reported by Reuters.
Sajak, who is 76 years old, made the announcement on Twitter, simply writing, “the time has come.”
“I have decided that our 41st season, which starts in September, will be my last. It’s been a great journey, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months,” he wrote.

According to Suzanne Prete, head of the game show division of Sony Pictures Television, which produces the show, the show will continue airing for at least three more seasons following Sajak’s retirement.
She gushed, “We’re thrilled to have him remaining close to the Wheel of Fortune family!”
Vanna White, the show’s beautiful and ever-smiling co-host who has made a career out of switching around the letters on the show’s puzzle board for the better part of four decades, was not discussed.
