On Her Eras Tour, Taylor Swift Is Breaking The Rule About Surprise Songs

When it comes to the surprise songs during her Eras Tour shows, Taylor Swift is making an exception to her usual policy, Billboard states. The pop queen, 33, told fans at her Friday, April 14 concert in Tampa, Florida, that she will now allow herself to perform some songs as many times as she wishes during the brief acoustic set of her upcoming stadium shows.

Check out the following entries to learn the ages of some of your other beloved stars:

“Basically when I started the tour, I was like, ‘In the acoustic section, I am never repeating a song. I’m never doing songs more than once.’ But now I’m like, ‘There are so many songs I want to do more than once,'” Swift stated in a fan-captured video from Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium.

In addition, she said, “So, I’m making a little caveat to the rule, which is that if [a song] is on Midnights, I can do it however many times I want, because Midnights is the most accurate picture of my life to date.”

During the surprise songs part of her Tampa show on Friday, Swift performed “The Great War” from Midnights (3am Edition) with regular collaborator Aaron Dessner and “You’re on Your Own, Kid” from Midnights for the first time live. Both songs hit in the top half of the Billboard Hot 100 in November of 2022, at positions 26 and 8. You can see the official tweet by Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour below.

At the beginning of her Eras Tour in Glendale, Arizona on March 17, Swift announced her plans for the acoustic portion of her long-awaited live act.

“The plan, the goal, would be to play different songs every single night and never repeat one. Right? So that when you heard one on this tour, you would know it’s the only time that I was going to play it in the acoustic set, unless — caveat — unless I mess it up so badly,” the star said with a small laugh, “that I have to do it over again in some other city. Send your best wishes towards me that I don’t do that.”
