After a year of d@ting, Elliot finally asked Sofia to be his wife in Hawaii. “In April of 2022,” Sofia reflects, “Elliot surprised me with a trip with all of our best friends. He proposed at golden hour—it was magical.” She posted the photo on Instagram with the words “Forever isn’t long enough”
Then, the planning for the wedding got underway rapidly. “It was a full-time job, but we had a great time,” Sofia reflects.
The bride travelled to the Chanel haute couture salons in Paris for her last dress fittings a few weeks before the wedding, together with her future mother-in-law, Lady Caroline Grainge, and her best friend, Ali Meller.
As reported by Vogue, Chanel made three dresses for her big wedding weekend events: the rehearsal dinner, which was on Friday night at a private farm, the ceremony, and the party afterward. Sofia wanted her veil to stand out, so she collaborated with the Chanel design team to make one that shimmered with resin water droplets.
The other two outfits were the result of tight collaboration between Sofia, her stylist Liat Baruch, and Douchez, who looked through archived Chanel couture shows to find inspiration. The seven bridesmaids wore different shades of black, while Elliot donned a Ralph Lauren suit to the rehearsal dinner and a Tom Ford tuxedo to the actual ceremony. Sofia and her bridesmaids spent the night before the wedding in a villa on the grounds. “We stayed up laughing all night,” she says. “The next morning, I woke up with all of my bridesmaids and my sister and we went to an 8 a.m. rehearsal. We were all in our pajamas and had a lot of fun and then that led into breakfast. They surprised me with balloons and all of my favorite breakfast foods—we were like giddy little girls getting excited for the day to come.”
After finishing their breakfast at 11 a.m., the party immediately moved on to getting their hair and makeup done. “It was a revolving door of glam,” Sofia says. “God bless them, they were fantastic! There were four makeup artists and four hairstylists who flew in from London.” The bride’s friends did her hair and makeup, and she chose to keep things simple. Sofia claims that her makeup for the entire weekend was natural and uncluttered. “I just wanted it to feel timeless. I don’t want to look back in 20 years” and say, “She’s a glamazon.”
Roni Floral Design provided an abundance of white and cream flowers for the ceremony, which began promptly at 6 o’clock in the evening. The aisle was bordered with clear glass marquees. A traditional Jewish ceremony was performed by Rabbi Thomas Solomon at the historic Hotel du Cap.
Following the ceremony, Nicole, the bride’s sister, acted as emcee for the evening’s festivities, which included cocktails, dinner, and speeches. Good Charlotte, a band both Sofia and Elliot listened to as kids, performed at the after-party, which had a nightclub-like atmosphere. Family and friends danced until 3 a.m., when the newlyweds, their bridesmaids and groomsmen went back to the house where the party had started earlier that day.
