Halle Bailey’s ‘Part Of Your World’ Performance On American Idol Was Stunning

On Sunday’s episode of American Idol, which was themed “Disney Night,” HALLE BAILEY sang “Part of Your World” live, as per Rolling Stone.  Bailey reflected Ariel’s desire to be human and The Little Mermaid’s underwater magic by wearing a shimmery blue dress and standing in front of a watery Magic Kingdom castle.

Her version will be featured as the first song from the upcoming live-action adaptation of the Disney classic The Little Mermaid. In the song, Ariel, a mermaid, longs to experience what it’s like to be human. “What would I give if I could live out of these waters?” she ponders. “What would I pay to spend a day warm on the sand?” Have a look at the performance of Halle Bailey in the video below.

Many of the songs from the 1989 animated film The Little Mermaid will be re-recorded for the live-action remake’s soundtrack by Disney music veterans Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. Together, Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda composed four new songs for the film (three of which are used in the film itself, while the fourth is included as a bonus feature on the DVD).

The Little Mermaid, directed by Rob Marshall, will premiere on May 26. Bailey plays the title role, and the rest of the ensemble includes Jonah Hauer-King as Eric, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, and Noma Dumezweni as Queen Selina. You may see the tweet below in which it is said that Halle Baily Is The Moment.
