With the longest running length in the franchise’s illustrious history, Scream VI promises to give audiences more scares for their money.
The official runtime of Scream VI has been certified by Regal Cinema and Paramount Pictures to be 2 hours and 3 minutes, making it the longest Scream film ever. The first film in the horror series ran for 1 hour and 51 minutes; the newest chapter clocks in at 1 hour and 59 minutes.
Scream VI’s length could be a revealing sign of the film’s overall quality. The film would supposedly feature Ghostface at his most terrifying by having the lousy slasher kill for the sake of killing and using his shrine for evil. In addition, the upcoming sequel has Easter eggs that will bring back fond memories of the original Scream movies.
Characters of Scream 6
Jenna Ortega (Tara Carpenter), Melissa Barrera (Sam Carpenter), Hayden Panettiere (Kirby Reed), Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers), and Roger L. Jackson (Ghostface) return in their respective roles from the previous film.
The film follows the Carpenter siblings, Chad and Mindy Meeks (Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown), the four final people alive after the last Ghostface killings in the previous Scream sequel. The foursome leaves Woodsboro for New York City, hoping to start a new chapter in their life, but they are faced with even more terror as a new Ghostface causes havoc in the “Big Apple.”
On March 6, Scream VI, co-directed by Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett), had its global debut at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater in New York City. At this writing, 51 critics gave the slasher flick an 80% positive rating on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.

It was approved in February of last year, just after the release of the fifth Scream film, and production lasted from June to August in Montreal, Canada, using a budget of $35 million. Since its inception, the Scream franchise has earned approximately $744 million at the box office worldwide, with the first film grossing $173 million.
Preliminary estimates put Scream 6’s opening weekend gross at $37 million, which would be a franchise high and surpass Scream 3’s opening weekend gross of $34 million. The sixth Scream film debuts in theaters on March 10.
