House of the Dragon Season 2: Is it getting another season?
Yes, HBO has recently renewed House of the Dragon for a second season.
This comes after the House of the Dragon premiere, which attracted “extraordinary demand” in Europe and roughly 10 million people in the US, became the broadcaster’s biggest launch in history.
As the most watched premiere on premium cable and streaming in 2022, the first episode managed to surpass Stranger Things Season 4, which was Stranger Things’ main rival for pop-cultural supremacy this year.
EVP of HBO Programming Francesca Orsi said, “We are beyond proud of what the entire House of the Dragon team has accomplished with Season 1,” in a statement obtained by Deadline.

We owe a great debt of gratitude to George R.R. Martin, Ryan Condal, and Miguel Sapochnik for guiding us along the way. Season 2 of Game of Thrones is going to be incredible, and we can’t wait to keep the epic narrative of House Targaryen alive.
House of the Dragon Season 2 release date: When is it coming out?
Because the final episode of House of the Dragon Season 1 isn’t scheduled to air until October 23, and the show has only recently been renewed, Season 2 doesn’t yet have an official release date.
Looking ahead, Season 2 could arrive in late 2023 if the show releases a new season every year. Otherwise, depending on production and scheduling, it could arrive in early 2024 – remember, Season 1 took 10 months to complete.
House of the Dragon Season 2 cast: Who’s in it?
Given that it is a Game of Thrones spinoff, it is likely that certain characters may die off in future seasons of House of the Dragon, but this has yet to be determined.

House of the Dragon Season 2 plot: What will it be about?
As of this writing, the plot of House of the Dragon Season 2 has not been revealed officially.
The first episode established the groundwork for a more personal, yet still epic, plot to unfold in subsequent episodes. House of the Dragon focuses on the Targaryen family as Game of Thrones dealt with the return of the White Walkers and the widespread struggle for the Iron Throne.
So far, we know that Viserys has named Rhaenyra as his heir, that Daemon has been exiled for celebrating Baelon’s (Viserys’ child who died along with his mother, Aemma’s) death, and that Otto is hoping that the king will fall for his daughter, Allicent, after sending her to comfort him in his grief.
