With a movie, a new sequel, updated console ports, and a new “big-budget game,” Scott Cawthon’s Five Nights at Freddy’s series shows no signs of slowing down.
As Cawthon explained earlier today, the movie adaptation based on the horror game, Five Nights at Freddy’s, has been delayed (despite not having an announced release date).
Chris Columbus (Mrs. Doubtfire, Harry Potter, and the Sorcerer’s Stone) will direct a live-action Five Nights at Freddy’s movie from Blumhouse Productions. It’s been revealed that Cawthon’s original script for this film has been trashed.
Cawthon revealed that he had a script ready. It was a big hit with Jason [Blum] and Chris [Columbus], but I threw it away. It wasn’t what I had in mind; it was something else. This delay is entirely my fault, and I accept full responsibility for it.”
According to Cawthon, he’s “determined to find the right story,” which has proven to be difficult. For his movie script, he’s concentrating on the story told in the first three Five Nights at Freddy’s games.
To this day, Cawthon insists, “It’s either the right movie gets made or there’s no movie at all.” “I don’t like delaying a project that has already had so many delays, but I have to go with my instincts on what I think will be exciting and interesting, and what I think the fanbase will want to see.
” As long as it means I have to start over ten times, I’ll do it. The good news is that, in my opinion, the quality of each attempt improves. As a result, despite the setbacks, progress is being made.”
Cawthon revealed that “new, improved, HD ports of all of the original games” for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One are currently in development, as are virtual reality and augmented reality games based on Five Nights at Freddy’s.
Although it’s said to be in the early stages of development, there is a “AAA” game based on the series.
An incredible big-budget game is currently in the works, according to “a BIG deal!” Cawthon commented.
